Grammy's ran over their allotted time?  you don't say........

well that sucks.  i DVR'd the last 30 or so minutes but haven't watched it yet.  bummer.

I thought the show was amazing, at least what i saw.  the Daft Punk collabo with Stevie Wonder was amazing, how they went from the big hit song with whats his nuts, then a grateful deadish jam into that Stevie Wonder song (from 'hotter than july', i believe?) then back into the Daft Punk song.  that was cool as shiat.

and the dueling pianos with Carole King and Sarah Bareilles, that was incredible.  i love Carole King, and I didn't know until i watched Sarah that the, "say what you wanna say, i wanna see you be brave' song was hers.  i thought that was kelly clarkson.  anyways, seeing those two go back and forth, that was just incredible.  i watched it like 3 times in a row.

i don't care for macklemore's song, despite the cool message.  but madonna kind of farked that up.  she was off key and looked silly with her cane.

Stupid part for me was the collaboration between Imagine Dragons and the rapper where the bleeped over half of the rap.  If you know what he does, you either don't book him, or you have him tone it down.

That might've pissed me off, too.  Good thing I don't watch the Grammy's.

Occam's Razor: Among competing hypotheses, the hypothesis with the fewest assumptions should be selected.

Occam's Reznor: Among competing programming choices, the choice featuring Reznor should be selected or Trent will unleash a raging Tweetnado.

oh an Jay Z had a rare momentary loss of words....during one of his acceptance speeches (the only one i saw, at least) he was thanking.....shiat........or acknowledgin I think Paul McCartney, someone in the audience, and he was like, "i wanna thank..........you for whatever you did *nervous laughter*....."   it was like, "gee, backhanded compliement much?"

2014-01-27 11:17:49 AM
I was gonna watch the video but I guess the Grammys erased the rest of the performance too.

That's the only part of the Grammy's I watched and that was just until Queens of The Stone Age started cause I don't like Josh Homme's voice.

The Grammy's aren't about music.  Music's involved but let's be serious; they have to sell stuff - like that country girl in a short, short skirt.  You wouldn't have been cut off 20 years ago, but your shiat don't sell anymore.
/They never sell anymore. They used to sell. But now they don't.  (You're) not a sexy sixteen-year-old girl.

Oh c'mon, the five minutes of the Grammys I saw were Ringo Starr singing Photograph. Who the hell was that selling to other than happy grandmas clapping their hands?

Sort of on topic, is it me or did James Hetfield sound kind of uninterested during Metallica's performance?  He sounded much like someone just going through the motions.

yeah, he did seem kinda flattish.

also, did they (metallica) do something new?  I don't know who that chinese kid is, but.....it just seemed kinda strange to have them collaborate on a 20 yr old song;  did they release something or did the Grammy's just throw them together?

2014-01-27 11:58:58 AM
Probably not that different when Motley Crue was back together (original lineup) at either the Grammys or the MTV music awards.  Played a 20 some year old song.  Of course, has Metallica released a memorable song in their last 3-4 albums>

not really a fan, not my kind of music so i can't say.  i know here a lot of people HAAAAAAAAAAAAAATED St Anger but that was like, what, 10 years ago?

and isn't it funny how much Lars has aged (nice skullet, bro) and how the filipino dude hasn't aged at all?  flaking on his name, but, he hasn't aged a day since "one".  James is a little puffy but he kidna always was.

you talking about trujillo?  he has only been with the band since they shat out St Anger.

he also has no farking business being in metallica.

Technically they have released three albums since St. Anger.

frepnog: you talking about trujillo? he has only been with the band since they shat out St Anger.

no, the lead guitarist.  i know that guy got hired fairly recently.  from ozzy's band, right? of perhaps an iteration of alice in chains?

that documentary was pretty cool.  james was more interesting than i thought, Lars a massive douche, and then the hiring process was interesting.  Eric Avery was in the mix?  man.  that would have been something, his sense of  melody and dynamics.  half of Jane's appeal is his work.

perry farrell was on Jay Mohr's podcast about six months ago, and he was brutal on eric.  he said there were several jane's songs "sisyphus" (his pet name for avery) didnt want released, but perry said they were some of Jane's best work.  mohr is ilke, "why are they siting in a vault somewhere instead of being on my ipod?" adn perry is like, "go ask sisyphus.  he said he wasn't happy with his playing, so he blocked the release."

the guy he replaced, blaking on his name, but he showed up in of my guitar magazines about a year ago.  kinda recall him taking some broad shots at his former buddies/bandmates.

newsted.  and anything he says about his former band mates....  well, they farking deserve.

he should still be in the band. but no, james is a farking baby.

rickythepenguin: no, the lead guitarist.

ah.  kirk (so in the closet i found narnia) hammett.

Nah he's talking about Kirk.

Also Trujillo is the best thing that has happened to Metallica in a long time, if only they would turn his bass up in the mix.

Post Burton there is no bass on Metallica albums.

I don't have a problem with the man on a personal level and he is one talented motherfarker.

he just has no business being a part of metallica.  when cliff died they hand picked Newsted to replace him, and then hazed the guy relentlessly, and not in fun.  and then james basically forced him to leave the band because james is a goddamned douchebag.

poor guy got treated like a rebound relationship.

I agree but it's not like they were ever gonna apologize to Newsted and ask him to rejoin, and Trujillo was the best option - much better than letting Bob Rock play bass.

Not "defending" CBS, but I find it a bit strange that any member(s) of the music industry, which is the most cynical and ruthless business model existing today would be that shocked and appalled another business behemoth might have to cut something short because of obligations.

I cant even imagine why CBS would care if people watched the grammys after the fact.  Its not like they sell DVDs of old grammys

It's time for "Light of Day 2"; get Michael J Fox, Joan Jett, and Michael McKean back together, and Trent can revisit his appearance as a band member of "The Problems".
