The old lane change violation trick, huh?

More likely this. If the prosecutor suddenly drops the charges...

$15,000/6 lb = $2500/lb
First time I've seen an article that wasn't cop math. That's about right, if it's premium Humboldt bud.

So when you are transporting less than 6 pounds it is ok.

Do they breathalyze every jackhole with a beer belly and a cowboy hat? They should.

A hat with a word on it doesn't create probable cause for a search, I hope this guy wasn't dumb enough to allow it.

Or, you know, don't transport large quantities of an illegal substance. I want legalization and think what is happening in Colorado and Washington are a good thing and I want to see it more. But if you get pinched with a car full of a controlled substance in a place were it is illegal you knew what you were doing and have it coming.

I think you missed the thread a few days ago. If a cop asks to search your vehicle, your vehicle will be searched regardless of what you say.

It's likely primo Oregonian "medical" bud.

They just closed down a "medical" grow-house next door to me. They had all of their paperwork filed correctly.

We neighbors couldn't help but notice that a couple of times each month, a car from a different non-medical-pot state would show up and stay for a few days, then never be seen again.

Its easy to be a horrible neighbor when the guy who lives next to you pays so much attention to whats going on at YOUR house that he knows how long your visitors stay. Close the damn blinds and go watch Wheel of Fortune or something.

It's easy to see what's going on when the subwoofers are thumping hip-hop at 3 in the morning, they start fist-fights outside your bedroom window when you're sleeping, the neighbors are parking on your lawn, and there's garbage strewn throughout the neighborhood because they refuse to pay for garbage pickup and just pile it in their backyard.

You start it, I finish it.

I wasn't aware that only "hip-hop" listeners smoked marijuana. But now, I'm looking forward to that Willie Nelson collaboration with young Jeezy. Also, it sounds like you just live in the ghetto. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But, are you sure that all of that was caused by one neighbor?

> So, the cars with out of state tags would come into town to buy drugs illegally from the legal marijuana dispensor.

> Instead of getting their product and heading back to their neighborhoods, these drug dealers would stay for several days in the place where they were
illegally buying narcotics.

> While they were in town to do their illigal drug deal, they would go out to their cars at 3am to blast hip-hop music.

> The people who jumped through all of the hoops to get a treasured license to grow medical marijuana would jeopordize their semi-legal operation by regularly starting fights outside.

> They sold so much weed that people would come from out of town and stay several days to purchase it, but they never spent any of that money on trash removal.

> They also randomnly parked their car in your yard.

Does that about summarize your unlikely story? The only place that I know where people even think about parking a car in a yard is in the ghetto. Maybe its not the neighbor, its the neighborhood.

I see you're a moron or a troll. Nobody said anything applied to anyone except for what my neighbors were doing to disrupt the neighborhood.

However, there are articles out there talking about the impact of the "medical" marijuana industry on the black market. Oregonians learned that it's far more profitable to sell to out-of-state black market sources -- more power to them. We only noticed the trend because our personal neighbors were assholes.

And yes, this is a very small rural town, and we know it was all from one house. We tried negotiating with the leaseholder personally, and he said he'd take care of everything just to avoid conflict, but nothing changed. This went on for months and months.

This wasn't busybodies spying on every little move of a quiet, responsible neighbor. This was a set of disruptive assholes affecting everyone around them until everyone around him fought back and got them thrown out.

Drug traffickers exploit Oregon medical marijuana program's lax oversight and loose rules

Nearly 40 percent of Oregon pot seized on the nation's most common drug-trafficking routes during the first three months of this year was tied to the medical marijuana program. Since 2010, federal law enforcement authorities have identified more than a dozen large-scale and highly profitable operations trafficking hundreds of pounds of Oregon medical marijuana to at least seven states.

Considering the point was that Oregonians sell medical pot to the out-of-state black market, and I've seen evidence of that in my own neighborhood, you shouldn't have made any assumptions.

When I said "we couldn't help but notice," I meant "we couldn't help but notice."

Living in another part of Oregon, I can actually attest to all of the above (aside from the 3am fighting, because when that happens it usually had to do with alcohol or meth or someone banging their sister-cousin-brother-mother). There are a lot of people here who have no right to have a medical marijuana grow license, yet they were able to obtain one and it can actually be quite difficult to "bust" them if they mind their p's and q's (ie: don't sell locally and don't advertise). And,sometimes, people let neighbors get away with crap for too long.

And for what it's worth, sometimes those out-of-state people are there to help with trimming and packaging. Not that I've seen that, but I know the business well enough through a deceased family member to know how some of these operations roll.

Hell, at one of the local grow-ops, there's a VERY distinctive out-of-state bus that shows up every few months, stays for a couple weeks, and is gone again.

What assumptions did I make? If anything, I declined to make assumptions that they were problem neighbors in ways unrelated to marijuana.

He was driving north on US 97, about six hours north of Weed, CA.  He might've just been driving for business and realized he'd need a hat for the cold.
