Now I'm wondering what this *would* be an appropriate punishment for.

I would have LOVED that compared to what I endured in Cathoilc school in the mid 60's. I was hit, I was forced to kneel on the hard floor at the back of the class, kids were made to stand in trash cans during lunch....
