Actually, the husband sounds like a reasonable person who was really trying, but eventually just couldn't deal with the woman's paranoid jealousy and control-freak nature.  I mean, she apparently accused him of having an affair every time he didn't spend every available moment with her, in the US that's actually considered a red-flag for an abusive relationship.  And I don't mean by implication, I mean it is actually presented as evidence in court cases and such.

Then, it's a Mail article, so I'm somewhat skeptical that any of these people even exist, and if they do I'm dubious on them even being married and a kidney transplant happening.

// Given he tried to talk her out of it... it probably  was an abusive relationship, and he knew it but hadn't consciously acknowledged it, and was resisting because he knew she was doing it to have something to hold over him.

// Really nice of him to be so mild and complimentary about his ex when interviewed if any of the story's real... didn't even give them anything to spin.  That's some farkin' loyalty right there, I'd be right charmed to have anybody clam up that way for me, whether I was sleeping with 'em or not.

Legally its not your kidney anymore once you donate it, so no backsies.

Yeah, that... that kind of horrible reaction is probably why he checked out of the relationship to begin with.

Gyrfalcon: Can they even DO that?

Given the bias against men in the court system... Yes I would believe they could do that.

TOSViolation: I think I know why he might have left.

Her, "I gave you my kidney, and you won't even do the dishes?"
Her, "I gave you my kidney! The least you could do is go watch with me!"
Her, "I gave you my kidney, and you didn't even bring me flowers today!"
Her, "I gave you my kidney, and you won't even give me the remote!"
Her, "I gave you my kidney, so you should give me some jewelry!"
Her, "I gave you my kidney, so...hello? Where did you go?"

This.

I can totally see this going down. Some women, if they even do the smallest thing for their man, will make them remember it and try to use it to guilt them for as long as they can. Now imagine if she is that type of woman, and she just gave him a kidney that saved his life. She would think and act like she owned him.

As someone with a friend that's needed a kidney for 2 years now and refuses to take a living donor(and thus my offer entirely), I would like to say this woman is a farking disgusting pig and has a shiatty attitude.

Her whole argument reeks of "I gave him a kidney so he should stay with me." It doesn't work that way, and if you're going to donate to someone you know, you should think about what will happen if the relationship goes south after the surgery. Her own damn fault.

And seeing her side of it, I almost don't care if he was having an affair. I wouldn't want to be with her crazy self either.

Yeah, it says the transplant was done in 2009, and he left her only last year... it's not like he recovered from surgery and was immediately heading out the door.

Exactly... She should just be thankful that she wasn't thrown out of a window, becoming paralyzed, then crashing on some weird-ass island with a bunch of other freaks, then dying and having her corpse taken over by a smoke-monster!

Nogale: Who the hell dumps someone who donated a vital organ to save his life?

I think he should be forced to pay her the market value of the kidney.

A person who is tired of putting up with that person's shiat.

Fafai: sjcousins: To be fair she isn't actually trying to get her kidney back, despite what the headline says. She regrets donating it to her husband who promptly left her, which is perfectly understandable.

FTA: "I hate him. If I could, then I would take it back and give it to someone else."

No, she's not actively  trying to get it back, but only because she knows that's impossible. She would if she could.

So? She hates him for leaving and regrets giving him one of her kidneys. I'd say that response is pretty normal.

She sounds like a nutjob, if this story is true. I'd want to get away from her too.  If I put together a crazy woman logic scenario, I'm guessing her friend is better looking than her and has always been jealous of this. Then her husband does something for her, he coincidentally leaves his wife shortly after, and the wife assumes it's because he's having an affair with her friend.

Well lady, there's no legal way to get it back, but maybe you can make him want to get rid of it. Kill yourself and then haunt the kidney till he begs to have it removed. Trust me, if you try this idea, you'll have no more troubles.
