It's not Skype. It's a Skype type video calling built into a reader app so both parties can read and look at the pictures while the parent reads. And if either points to something on screen the other sees a pointer, so the kid can say "What is that?" and the parent can answer. You can buy lots of books to read. I don't know if you have to buy theirs or if anyone can publish stories that will work with them.

Just using Skype would be what the picture in TFA showed, a soldier struggling to hold a book up to the webcam.

This is a great idea, and one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" things.
