Yeah, but Americans will unfortunately be collateral damage. The US will have at least three ships off the coast full of Navy seals and Air force pararescue forces to evacuate US athletes ASAP . Even US officials think shot is going down these games.

With all the psychopathic US government activity I wouldn't be surprised if they're the ones planning something. Dagestan Vilayat, the terrorist group claiming the Volgograd bombings are financed by Ansar Al- Sunna, an Iraqi terrorist militia. Second of all, really? - as much as you get put in danger because of the US, you have reaped 10X benefits from being next to us. Boycotting like in 1980 didn't really work. All that happened was the Soviets took their free medals and declared victory while a bunch of Americans who would have been on the Olympic team are embittered about it to this day.

If the athletes wish to compete, they wish to compete. End of the day, it's their event, not ours. But should shiat go down and any of them want to run like hell, nobody's going to think less of them. It just needs to be their decision and not anybody else's.

Hen u was little, my mother would make me wear the most god awful outfit for picture day and I always felt humiliated the entire farking day wearing some ugly, itchy outfit.

This is how I feel when I look at these sweaters - I would only wear them because I had to but be embarrassed the whole time. Those are some ugly ass sweaters from a designer that I actually own alot of nice classic pieces made by him. So strange to me - it is almost like he is playing a joke on us.

Gosling: Boycotting like in 1980 didn't really work.

They should be allowed to compete. Boycotting the games is not like forfeiting a football game or something. These athletes have been working up to the Olympics for their entire career. They've probably timed their training and events so that they would be in top form for THE OLYMPICS. For some of them, if they miss one Olympics, they'll never have another chance--they get too old, can't afford to keep doing it and go pro, or just leave the sport altogether.

Suddenly deciding to boycott the Olympics is like if you had a job where you worked on a project for the last 10 years, then they fired you a week before you were supposed to give the presentation about it.

The shutdown only cost a lot of money because the gov't paid their employees to not work (gave them an extra paid vacation) and they spent more money closing things than it did to leave them open. An area operated by the Army Corps of Engineers by my house had an officer there 24 hours a day to keep hikers and mountain bikers out when normally they have a guy show up once or twice a week to collect trash. They spent $1,000/day to keep it closed when keeping it open cost $45. Similar things like that occurred across the country.

Pretty sure if terrorists attack the games they won't necessarily target a specific nation's athletes but just try and kill the largest amount of people possible. This is about embarrassing Russia and more specifically Putin than any other nation. If they happen to get some US/Canadian/British athletes at the same time, well that's just a bonus for them.

Thank God we had real men and women in WWII or we'd all be speaking German ..

...never mind that, of course, we ran and hid during WWII until we were forced to respond. The war started in 1935, with a number of military actions by Axis countries that ultimately precipitated all-out conflict in 1939. You know what we did in 1939, when everyone else was fighting? Yeah, the American Neutrality Act. We were happy to sell them toys, but help them? Feh. Roosevelt promised to keep us out of the war entirely.
"Fark them, they're foreigners" - and that was the opinion of the American public until well into 1941, while our European allies were getting their asses pounded by the Axis. We took all sorts of economic actions - we stopped selling gas to the Japanese in 1941, for example - but, let's face it, we couldn't be arsed.

If Japan hadn't attacked Pearl Harbor, we wouldn't have been militarily involved at all in WWII. We already had a complex web of treaties and agreements in place, and as long as they weren't violated, we were quite happy to let Hitler stomp his friggin' jackboots all over Europe and Russia. It's only when those treaties and agreements were finally violated, when we had actual dead American soldiers, could we be arsed to give a rat's rancid rectum about global hegemony. We then bolstered the Allies, and became the first and last country on Earth to use nuclear weapons for warfare, on civilian populations.

"Real men", indeed.

But, when you're flinging derp, revisions are just part of the process.

If the American Athletes can not be guaranteed safety while in Russia, Maybe they have no business being there.  But this is stupid.  Our athletes could walk around wearing an American flag while yankee doodle was boomed from a ghetto blaster following them wherever they went and they would be perfectly safe.  Any harm done to them would be a serious insult to Russian intelligence and security forces, they would surround the teams with T-72's and Spetsnaz if thats what it took to keep them safe.  Anything less would mean Putin would have to apologize.  And thats not going to be allowed.

Apart from the 2 guys involved in the Boston Marathon bombing, I don't think the Chechens or the other separatist movts in Russia which are responsible for attacking civilian targets are interesting in Americans.
