Meanwhile, some smug asshole American here on fark will be mouthing off with clever witticisms like "who cares about Canada"? Yeah, you really know how to build that loyalty Americans. Of course there's a black guy there. Who else was going to do the manual labor of carrying that flag?

I was thinking more of he defected from Jamaica so he could be on a winning bobsled team.

BolshyGreatYarblocks: So, do the escort services do in-calls?

/Gotta maintain that Olympic Rivers of Semen tradition

I thought the tradition was no hookers, instead the athletes 'toured the globe' in their little village.  Think, would you want a hooker or a hottie from another country every night?

Meh - it's the price we must pay for being the best.  As much as everyone loves the popular high school quarterback, there are endless numbers of jealous dorks, nerds and dweebs who secretly want to take him down a peg.

Haters gonna hate.

HaywoodJablonski: My bold prediction is there will be 0 acts of terrorism.

This. Oh there might be a suicide bomber or two outside the village itself, but I think the athletes are going to be just fine. All this pant-shiatting fear mongering is ridiculous. Just be prepared, people and don't spread unnecessary fear.

If it's a Red Wings sweater, the terrorists will take pity on them.

It makes sense that so many middle eastern immigrants live close or in Detroit.  It's just like the home they left behind.

Well, at least this will give the American media a chance to shine a spotlight on the socioeconomic policies of Russia and maybe erode some of the inexplicable support by the right for Putin---wait, this just in:  Justin Beiber has just taken a leak on the street.  I repeat Justin Beiber has just taken a leak on the street!

We are not talking a precision strike force here.

They want to hurt the Russian Olympics and they will hit any athlete they can identify. No athletes should wear their uniforms when they are out of the secure areas.

First off, Canada - CHILL OUT. Subby was making a joke, the US government is not telling people to wear the Canadian uni.

Second of all, really? - as much as you get put in danger because of the US, you have reaped 10X benefits from being next to us. No one would fark with you because Uncle Sam would prison rape them into submission. We would curb stomp them into the stone age.  Yes, we look at you like a little brother, so we can be condescending. But we look at you like a little brother, so underlining it all, we love you guys. Canada is one of the few nations we will go 100% to the mat for.

Third - I hope your niece gets a silver.....

Boycotting like in 1980 didn't really work. All that happened was the Soviets took their free medals and declared victory while a bunch of Americans who would have been on the Olympic team are embittered about it to this day.

If the athletes wish to compete, they wish to compete. End of the day, it's their event, not ours. But should shiat go down and any of them want to run like hell, nobody's going to think less of them. It just needs to be their decision and not anybody else's.

This is how I feel when I look at these sweaters - I would only wear them because I had to but be embarrassed the whole time. They should be allowed to compete. Boycotting the games is not like forfeiting a football game or something. These athletes have been working up to the Olympics for their entire career. They've probably timed their training and events so that they would be in top form for THE OLYMPICS. For some of them, if they miss one Olympics, they'll never have another chance--they get too old, can't afford to keep doing it and go pro, or just leave the sport altogether.

Suddenly deciding to boycott the Olympics is like if you had a job where you worked on a project for the last 10 years, then they fired you a week before you were supposed to give the presentation about it.

The shutdown only cost a lot of money because the gov't paid their employees to not work (gave them an extra paid vacation) and they spent more money closing things than it did to leave them open. An area operated by the Army Corps of Engineers by my house had an officer there 24 hours a day to keep hikers and mountain bikers out when normally they have a guy show up once or twice a week to collect trash. They spent $1,000/day to keep it closed when keeping it open cost $45. Similar things like that occurred across the country.

Pretty sure if terrorists attack the games they won't necessarily target a specific nation's athletes but just try and kill the largest amount of people possible. This is about embarrassing Russia and more specifically Putin than any other nation. If they happen to get some US/Canadian/British athletes at the same time, well that's just a bonus for them.

As my Armenian friend always reminds me "Never turn your back on a Chechen"
