Let me guess... religion had nothing to do with some farked up parent trying to perform a exorcism on their kid... again?

(at least this kid wasn't stabbed to death)...

why did the 11 year old believe he was a demon? why didn't the father just tell his meth addicted son the son wasn't a demon?

He faces charges of child abuse, resisting arrest and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.

And from that mugshot, it looks like the cops beat the snot out of him for that.

Yeah religion is harmless.

If he was crazy enough to do this, he could have found any excuse. Silly to blame religion when a meth-addled paranoid does crazy stuff.

Adams told police that he took meth just before deputies arrived.

Meth? Is that anything like meth?

Pedophile is taking a kid into the woods when the kid says "it's dark out here I'm scared."

The pedophile says to the kid "you think you're scared? I have to walk back alone!"

It depends on how much you irrationally hate religion. You don't see anyone blaming this on Americans or parenthood, even though those have also been common traits lately.

CNN ran a story tonight with some holy man performing an exorcism over Skype.  It was just as phony as you expect, but they treated it as actual news.  Sad.

It's the exorcism part... So if you don't ignore the exorcism part then you 'irrationally hate religion'? I can't say I would agree with that premise, but good luck with that.

Do you know...aside from a suggestion not to look upon the wine when it is red, there don't seem to be very many religious restrictions about "Thou shalt not take foriegn substances into thy body that turn thee into a murderous farking idiot".

The first three being running from cops, into the dark woods, and torturing a kid.

So lessee...after he tripped and fell running into a tree, the cops hauled him back and said to the waiting medics, "Can you guys look the other way for a few minutes while we deal with this motherf*cker?" and the pissed-off medics said, "No prob, take your time."

You want to guarantee unsympathetic paramedics at your beating, just damage a kid beforehand. Nobody will ever see a thing.

Because of course, that justifies brutality at anyone's hands.

This is a sad story all around. The dad's a sad case. Not excusing child abuse (EVER!), but I can't even muster up a good hate.

Dude needs some help, you can see it in his eyes.

Too bad social services are cut to the bone in this poverty and addiction-riddled state. But yay, lower taxes (for the wealthy)!

I didnt' say it did.

I just said that's what would happen.

You can of course avoid that kind of thing by not torturing kids in the woods and then running away from the cops, especially the first part, you know?

I agree to a point, and the state of mental health services in this country is pathetic. But it's still no excuse. Hurt a child, you're no longer of any value to society. Throw him away.

Well, if more kids exorcismed more often they would not be so fat.

Better than you, probably, having suffered from it my entire life.

And yet oddly, I've never either tortured a child, or run away from the police. Funny how that works. Nor do I have the strange moral relativism that lets me say "It's okay for the mentally ill to abuse a child, but not okay for a cop to beat a child abuser." I happen to believe that both acts of abuse are equally abhorrent. Because all one needs to do is say "But what if the cop who beat the child abuser who beat the child was himself abused as a child?" and then we can sit around and decide that there are essentially no wrong acts if they can all be explained by prior bad acts inflicted on the perpetrator.

At some point, someone has to have the intestinal fortitude to say "It's wrong for the child abuser to abuse a child, no matter what was done to him as a child; it is wrong for the cops to beat the abuser, no matter what was done to THEM; and it's especially asinine for society to draw arbitrary lines and say sometimes we'll allow the abuse excuse and sometimes we won't depending on how we feel at the time. YMMV, but that's your problem.

I never said any of those acts were ok. You seem to be putting words in my mouth. Though I do agree with you on that last sentence. But, it is strange you should bring up the latter on your first opinion of this topic.

maybe, just maybe, enough meth does let you see the demons in people. maybe these meth heads are warriors in god's army against the coming darkness and should be hailed as heroes, and encouraged to continue their work.

/just a thought.
