Technically, it didn't redirect anything.

It just prefilled the TO address when you clicked a particular mail link.

Don't people check what the TO address is when they click on a link that brings up gmail?

Google has also confirmed that today's glitch was not related to today's Gmail outage.

I would have written "claimed" instead of "confirmed."

Yes, but our mistakes are so much bigger because they give us responsibility.

My mother doesn't.  She ends up sending almost every email to my business address before she checks and then has to send it to the person it was intended for.

Have you even read a Fark-linked article? :)

HR executive accidentally sends out information about upcoming job cuts to the entire company.

Airline CEO accidentally hits 'Reply to All' when responding to a complaint and ends up telling the complaintant what he really thought about their issue

Overpaid public servant accidentally emails reporter instead of publicist looking for advice on concealing her salary

Tony Blair's spin doctor accidentally emails BBC, telling them to "F*ck off." Hilarity ensues

In short: no. Apparently, most people do not bother to proofread even so much as the "to" line when sending emails.

/or text messages
