In November, China announced it was establishing an air defense identification zone (ADIZ) that would cover territory in dispute with Japan and require other nations to separately notify China of any planned flights through the zone.

In response, the U.S. flew two B-52 bombers through the zone without specifically notifying China.

at first i was like "YEAH MURICA!" but then i re-read it.. 'specifically' notifying China.. So, they sent out a general broadcast, one not specifically addressed to China? It smells like propaganda. Someone with more knowledge on protocols help me out here.

I am pretty sure that whatever actions the B-52 crew did, they were not doing what the Chinese wished they would.

There was a fark thread about it a few weeks ago... seemed like a rather flagrant F-U to China's new "policy."

Met with no response naturally.

Doesn't matter the ADIZ is here to stay... besides it's more against Japan than the US anyway.

May be "here to stay", but unless they start actually shooting planes down (or trying), it's pretty moot.

I don't think that the event with the fighter & the spy plane was an intentional kamikaze-attack.

What got swept under the rug was that the US government backed down slightly and advised all commercial aircraft to respect the ADIZ. Military aircraft may be another story, but either way the whole B-52 chest puffing was just showmanship and both sides knew that. Obama/Biden never did take a firm stand against the ADIZ as Japan wanted.

Advising unarmed civil aircraft not to respect the ADIZ would be irresponsible though -- certainly not the right way to protest.  If China does decide to go all "Korean Air Flight 7", you don't want them doing it with your country's civil aircraft.

A better way would be to park a well-armed carrier battle group or two on the water under the ADIZ and hold joint drills with Japan with hundreds of aircraft coming & going from the carrier(s).  Every few months.  That would piss China off far more than any benefit they'd get from having civil aircraft sending them notifications.

While I generally agree with your statement, your use of "it's" is so annoyingly incorrect as to defeat any point you were trying to make.

Your second and third use of "it's" is WRONG.  And furthermore, even if you don't like the "un", it still deserves to be capitalized as the name and acronym of an organization.
