I was just in that area in October. Beautiful country...    I had to leave my huskies at home though.
The trainer sleds are allright, though they are talking about sittin on a sled, the cometitions I have ever been a part of the sleds are stand up, and you run with the dogs half the time, or do the skijouring with skis and a waist harness instead of sled, with like 2-3 gods.

Scooters are common for dry-land racing.  Nothing stupid 'bout it.  Good for the dogs, too.
