(Talking Points Memo)   His scotch, sure, but Boehner doesn't want to give up his whine and cigarettes to be president. Thankfully that will never be an issue   (talkingpointsmemo.com) divider line 29

Boehner and Leno on the same show? I'd sooner watch my grandfather give my grandma an Alabama Hot Pocket.

Specifically he doesn't want to give up his 9:00am box of wine.

He seems to like them too much to be an effective Speaker of the House as well.

I always thought he looked like he would reek of scotch and cigarettes. Yuk.

From TFA:"The funny thing about the so-called infighting is we agree on all the goals," he said. "We think Obamacare is bad for the country. We think we shouldn't spend more than what we bring in. We think the president is ignoring the laws. It's all a fight over tactics."

Today's lesson: To Republicans, thinking Obamacare is bad for the country is the goal.

He will never be President, the Tea Party wing doesn't trust him. Of course, you can't even be in the position of Speaker of the House when your party is in the majority and NOT be hated by the TPers. Unless your party somehow have all 3 branches of government, an insurmountable filibuster-proof supermajority in the Senate, and never ever EVER EVER EVER have to compromise for less than 100.0000000% of all things the TP wants .... even the self-contradictory things.

Better to not be in any position of seniority or having to make actual decisions.

In other news, there are people that think the President isn't allowed to drink or smoke.  Or maybe that you can't win the Presidency if you drink or smoke.  Which is why they went with Whitey McDoesn'tDrinkorSmoke and lost handily last time.

Well, it's an inevitable conclusion when one reads and understands the financial solvency and long-term stability of their plan.

Hold on, I'm sure to find it on the intrawebs.  Be right back!

Yeah, people may think it's great as a speaker, but having a record of getting nothing done won't work for President.

If the President was really "ignoring the laws", Congressional Republicans would all probably be dead or in jail.

The speaker was more animated talking about his duties as the leader of the House. Growing up in a bar gave him the skills he needed to lead the GOP caucus, he said -- "you have to learn to deal with every jackass that walks through the door" -- but he later added that people often don't understand being House speaker involves more than just leading.
"They don't realize I've got a lot of other roles that I play," he said. "Some members, I have to be the big brother figure. Some I have to be the father figure, others I have to be the dean of students or the principal. Some of them, I have to be the Gestapo."

This just on, John Boehner has absolutely no idea what being a "leader" actually entails. News at 11...

At least he's smart enough to know his limits.  Wish more Teabaggers had that kind of awareness.

Well, he is basically hand-holding a bunch of retards through the process. That's leading.... a bunch of toddlers

Has there ever been a House Speaker who became President? IIRC people treated Gingrich's campaign in 2012 as an oddity because he had already been Speaker.

WTFDYW: I suppose you do?

One does not have to a full and complete idea of what being a leader is to understand that it encompasses every single thing that John Boehner characterized as being a different role than leader.

Yeah, it includes all of those things he listed as somehow not being included in being a "leader". You know, the things he listed as a 'some people don't realize' kind of thing.

We've had a liberal, effite, smoker in the white house for the last 5 years and all we got for it was Obamacare. Just say know.

But remember, Obama is an elitist who doesn't relate to normal people. What with all the mustard and arugula.
