Diocletian's Last Cabbage: Happy Birfday, Valnt9!  Fresh, hot cabbage cake for your birthday!

I was being snarky, but I did a GIS for "cabbage cake" and found this...

/reading the recipe and seeing the results, words fail me

My mother used to make sauerkraut cake - which is basically hot cabbage. It was really good actually, of course if you put enough chocolate and sugar in it you can make almost anything taste good.  Sauerkraut cake recipe

Finally, finally, FINALLY made it to the last page in the thread (as of 4PM Sat).  Welcome to all moobies and mostly-lurkers; c'mon in and stay awhile, the water's warm!

To all who responded to my request for nice messages to Alien, THANK YOU!  You probably know how much this means to her, you don't know how much this means to ME right now that you did/will do this.  Job search and financial situation sucks, and with Alien stuck in her situation the accumulating stress...  no, we won't go there.  Better to push the situation up than to dwell on the prospect of darker things that might've been.

To Alien - I saw this and the kitteh reminded me of you.  KEEP FIGHTING, GIRL!  ((((HUUGS!))))

To Difficult German Name - no prob with the name.  I think it is much easier to pronounce than Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern- schplenden- schlitter- crasscrenbon- fried- digger- dingle- dangle- dongle- dungle- burstein- von- knacker- thrasher- apple- banger- horowitz- ticolensic- grander- knotty- spelltinkle- grandlich- grumblemeyer- spelterwasser- kurstlich- himbleeisen- bahnwagen- gutenabend- bitte- ein- nürnburger- bratwustle- gerspurten- mitz- weimache- luber- hundsfut- gumberaber- shönedanker- kalbsfleisch- mittler- aucher von Hautkopft of Ulm, and ask you - just quickly - if there's any particular thing that you remember about Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern- schplenden- schlitter- crasscrenbon- fried- digger- dingle- dangle- dongle- dungle- burstein- von- knacker- thrasher- apple- banger- horowitz- ticolensic- grander- knotty- spelltinkle- grandlich- grumblemeyer- spelterwasser- kurstlich- himbleeisen- bahnwagen- gutenabend- bitte- ein- nürnburger- bratwustle- gerspurten- mitz- weimache- luber- hundsfut- gumberaber- shönedanker- kalbsfleisch- mittler- aucher von Hautkopft of Ulm.  The second.

To laulaja - I've never heard of Cabbage Cakes before either, but anything with bacon in it CAN'T be bad.  I started reading the description and thought, "u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u".  Then my brain caught up with reality and thought, "wow, wish I was enough of a cook to try those."

To everbuddy else - got to go.  If I ignore the laundry, I have enough change for 3 or 4 tall cans of Natty Datty.  Should last me the rest of the day!

iBette: brantgoose: When I was a child there was a band named Three Dog Night. It apparently got its name from a New Yorker Cartoon about a hostess showing a guest a room and saying that it was going to be a cold night so she put an extra dog on the bed. Or perhaps it came more directly from the idea that natives measured the cold by how many dogs you need to keep warm.

This obviously works with cats also.

Cat are superior to dogs in many ways, but it takes a lot more cats to cover a Queen-sized bed.

Cats: Better taste. Less filling.

Dogs: We have you covered.

I remember Three Dog Night, and the story of how they were named.  We used to sit on the school steps at 7th grade recess, spinning old 45's on the portable.  Had more of TDN than others.  Still rock out to them on a regular basis, MP3-style now. :)

Gads, I'm old.

Given your remark about 7th grade (and TDN being big at the time), I'm betting we are within a couple years of each other.

I haven't had an order for one yet. This is supposed to be Tom Baker as Dr. Who. This pic doesn't show the hair very well. I did find a way for him to have tiny Jelly Babies (in baggie on his lap).

I knew exactly who it was! I have a friend who would love this, do you have a link I can send him??

Try this one: Jo's Monkey Business on FB

If you can't get there, EIP and I can try other ways. I'm still waiting for the customer to call me back for pickup.

Am now receiving Unwelcome Intelligence (or lack) in present OpenOfcWriter where try to compose next issue of local rag.  Waddya mean, Picture Cannot Be Displayed?? Was there little bit ago. Now get text in block where foto meant to be. Already had to re-do grid for DX Spots when Tue column vanished -- linkies to DXpeditions & flags for nations where they take place.
Once it warms up again, multi trips to local grade school are needed to ReCycle Big Time.
Still have leftover soda & beer tins, & sardine tins, by bucket load. Also paper & magazines that oughta been discarded years ago!  Really need to stop receiving printed magazines altogether -- tried to subscribe to Newswk when they went digital-only, but could never ever read the issues.

Fun Razor: I love my cat. I really do.She does a really good job of keeping the house varmint free. However, I wish she would 1) Stop playing with her food and 2) stop bringing me live foods to play with. I mean I really appreciate the thought and all. And it's very sweet. I also really wish she would rethink her plan to bring her live foods to me while I am sleeping in my bed. I really appreciate the gesture but mouse with cat spit sauce is not on my menu of favorite snacks. She thinks it makes the perfect midnite treat, especially since I didn't even have to get out of bed to enjoy play-kill-eat time.  She then let it escape so she could hunt it all nite. In the bedroom. Of course. Because she wanted me to share in the fun. She is one thoughtful cat. She finally killed it about an hour ago and is now tenderizing it. Her method of tenderization is throwing the thing all over hell and gone. She is currently bouncing it off the ceiling and batting it like an All Star big leaguer. The look of pride on her face when it landed on my keyboard was priceless. It brought a tear to my eye (mostly because I was screaming like a little girl but that's beside the point).  Like I said, I really love my cat.

PS She is really mad at me now because I took it away from her.  I'm sorry, I really can't like the sound of crunching mouse bones. Nor do I like playing mouse head ping pong or squish the carcass with your toes.

btdt
you have very accurately described my Kitty, in her prime.

I remember 3 Dog Night!  And the tribes out West similarly measured the cold of the night that way and it persists to this day in the form of store names such as Three Dog Down (sells down comforters, pillows, etc; provides free accordian music while you shop)

Completely furrgot yesterday was Robbie Burns's Birthday! That requires/d both a bagpipe & a haggis. BBC World Service Radio certainly did its annual piece on Hunting of the Wild Haggis.
Able to bring up sketch done by Cafe Press Ago that "Bagpipes are really hard to draw."  Not able to see where I'd saved that, but as it was ooogly, doubt you care.

We're big fans of metal here, but have recently been listening and getting into this electronic genre called witch house. Can be dreamy and/or creepy, depending on the song or artist.
