I have no problem with anyone reposting my pics. Just don't let my sister know, she gets upset when she finds out I posted family photos on the internet.

Does anyone have any advice related to an intercostal muscle strain?  I fell flat on my back on ice a few weeks ago. I thought I was better, but I reached up to a shelf this evening & felt a pop in one of my ribs & had about 60 seconds of really intense pain.  Now it's just really, really sore if I try to lift anything with that side or raise my arm above shoulder height.  I think I just pulled one of the muscles, since there's no swelling

I am going to say, take either ibuprophin or naproxin, and call your Doc asap. Muscle strain can be very difficult to deal with, let a pro evaluate you. I suffored for 8 months with a foot injury. Within a month, p.t. Made it feel sooo much better. And now I know how to strengthen my feet, so I don't have this issue again...

catmandu: lilyspad: catmandu: Hector is a water kittie. I have caught him splashing around in the water bowl and the toilet bowl, not trying to drink, just stick his front paws in and splashy, splashy.

Here he is at the sink. He tries to bite the water stream, then tries to catch it and licks the water off his paws. I need to get a Drinkwell 360 (eventualy when i can afford it) instead of using a mixing bowl for water. I think both cats would love it.

[i283.photobucket.com image 650x512]

Does he get into that butter too?  :D

So far, no. I have never had a butter loving kitty.

what? !
if I don't cover the butter it would be licked by Pita and paw swiped by Lily, leaving claw stripes in the side.
but, I always leave the last bit in the dish for the cats to lick clean. it does seem to keep the hair moving instead of gacking back up.

I'm all hopped up on advil tonight.  Everything I've read says that a dislocated rib will have swelling & make breathing painful,, two symptoms I luckily don't have.

Oh gosh, I didn't see your original post. After my last accident. (A jerk late for his dr. Appoint was doing 120 in the fast lane, pulled into the slow lane not seeing me and totaled my car) I immediately emailed the driver's (now former insurance company) with my aches and pains, followed by a trip to the doctor the next day. Please do the same.... Four years later still in the court system looking for progressive to even pay a start on my medical bills. Fortunately, MetLife, my insurance co stepped in and covered most everything. Complain about any/everything, get yourself into a doctor for any complaint, etc. in my instance I required knee surgery. I did not think it was anything but a bruise at first.

Yep, injuries aren't always immediately apparent.  I'm sorry for your insurance ordeal but so glad you're on the mend.

The mister and I got smacked driving back from NH last fall.  Dumbass in a big suv on her cellphone ran a stop sign; nearly t-boned my little Subaru.  Ambulance ride to ER (nothing broken - amazingly), then stranded 100 miles from home when finally released.  The first day we were just shocked and numb, but, holy fark, were we sore for the next week!  Adding more insult to injury, the other driver had no auto insurance.  Luckily we have uninsured motorist coverage and they've been very helpful.  Had new wheels within a week, and they  insisted we follow up - and keep following up - with our own DRs.  I'm glad we did because we're both still creaking from deep soft-tissue injuries and pain which will likely haunt us for years.  Physical therapy ongoing.  The ordeal has made us both nervous and defensive drivers.  Mister's recovering better than I am in that regard, but we get around as necessary.  We drove to Mass over New Year's and still can't get over the people we witnessed texting, talking or otherwise dubbing around while driving. <facepalm>

Toonces says: "Eyes on the road and both paws on the wheel, numb-nuts!"

I had something like that about a year ago; was moving heavy stuff around, and my chest just hurt. I saw a Dr, and was told to use NSAIDS if possible, or Tylenol in my case, and moist heat. I have a heating pad with a spongy insert that can be doused and wrung out for that purpose. Good luck!

Raeside just put out a wonderful book of all his dog cartoons!  I got it out from the library a couple months ago and read it like 4 times before I could bear to give it back.  See if you can get a hold of it somewhere, it's full of great stuff like that.  Will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you smile!

Oh,  hopefully a happy Caturday for next week!  As some of you know, Miss Bob had to be put to sleep about three weeks ago because of renal failure.  Miss Bob:

img547.imageshack.us

She was sweetness personified.  That left Blue, the evil one, without a playmate.  Blue:

img202.imageshack.us

in his favorite place to sit, outside the bedroom plotting to kill us while we sleep (note the boots - that's to keep him from biting my leg):

img198.imageshack.us

So I went to an adoption fair and they had an extremely rambunctious male 1 year-old named Jasper they wanted to pair with an "active cat."  I figure maybe he can be a Mini-me to Blue's Dr. Evil:

img577.imageshack.us

Yeah, he has orangish eyes.  I haven't seen that before.  We've been going through the process for the last two weeks, we have the home visit tomorrow, and then I should be able to pick him up early next week.  My only worry is that they won't get along, but Blue likes other cats, just not humans :)  Jasper, for the brief time we spent with him, immediately took to biting whatever hand was in front of him, so this might be a match made in heaven.

Wish me luck, Caturdayers!  If it all works out I'll have a boatload of pictures next week!

ps - Funny story about Bob's ashes:  The company that handled cremation called me at work to find out what we wanted on the plaque for her wood box and I said "Miss Bob."  The woman asked "Oh, like you miss him?"  I explained that she was an outside cat when we adopted her and didn't find out her sex for two years, so we named her Bob, but when we found out she was female we always called her "Miss Bob."  There was a slight pause, and then the woman asked "You named a cat Bob?"

Yes we did, lady.  Yes we did:

catmandu: Thank you for asking. I am doing OK. I've been a good girl about eating better (for the most part) and taking my meds (I now have 2 of the weekly reminder boxes, one for morning and one for night). Haven't gotten the results of the echocardiogram yet and my next followup is first week in Feb so we will see what progress has been made then.

Not sure which is tougher - eating better or taking meds?  Meds do help, provided you get the right ones.  And even then they often result in yucky side effects, making you feel worse than the condition they're meant to treat.  Eating healthy does make you feel better in the long run, but comfort foods... well... they're called that for a reason. :)   Good luck with the tests!

tigerose: Early poesey...hankies? You decide.

The kiss

Lying alone in bed.
Wee hours
Of the Morn.

Silent.
Alone.

Mind churning.
So many,
Things to do.

Four paws
And bold presence,

Settle upon my chest.
Purrs,
Echo in my heart.

Leaning forward,
You gently lick
My cheek bone.

Tiny, tender
Swipes,

As if I might break.

Then,
A testing of teeth,
Upon my skin.

And I slept,
Anchored by your
Love.

I feel it even now,
Hours after.

So unusual.
Such a gift.

A kiss.

(C)tigerose 1/24/14

Such a gift, indeed.  Oh,  tigerose, the images you conjure with words...
