I've recently learned just how much of a biatch it is to eyeball out a horseshoe made of struts and then loop it onto a Mun arch... I think I need MechJeb.

Funny how certain actors played different characters in the various Star Trek iterations. One I never noticed that someone pointed out in the comments: the alien guy pictured from the Symbiosis episode was also one of the bad guys in The Wrath of Khan. Then I looked it up and found out the other guy in Symbiosis was Captain Kirk's son in ST: II and III.

Then of course there's the picture of James Cromwell with a mustache as a prime minister of some alien planet, long before he was Zefram Cochrane in Star Trek: First Contact.

Whoops, wrong thread. First time I've done that, and I haven't even had a drink yet tonight.

Yeah, we can't be as hardcore as you League of Legends and Team Fortress 2 players.

Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of playing Far Cry 3

What cute little speakers you have.  One day, you'll get a real system!

Turnaround is fairplay, so I guess I should share:

Sorry about the lens flare, this was quick and dirty.  Probably wouldn't post, but that rum and coke made me do it.  Didn't bother setting the monitor down and firing up the projector...

Yamaha amp, Canton sub, Marantz all around.

//no doubt, some of ya'll have even better!

I want to see the projector!  I'll wait!

is the correct answer. The stars were all in perfect alignment when Sega put together that shining jewel of a console. To play it is to love it.

Best computer? I'd personally go with the Commodore 64 or the Amiga but I'm certainly open to respectful discussion as far as the Spectrum and ST are concerned as well. But not the Amstrad CPC as its colours are vile.

You can tell that kid with the leapfrog's parents don't love her.  My son will be raised on a mixture of PC and Nintendo.

Do all their arguments basically take the form of "The best console is [insert the one my parents bought for me]"?

My 8-year-old son has one in his room. He plays Sim City 4 and Spore on it

Kinda.  It was really a bore, and it wasn't cute.  They just wrote what they know.  Yeah, many kids can't spell, wow, ha.  The only thing that stood out was how pompously the presenter read the notes and how he intentionally mispronounced things the kids had very clearly spelled CORRECTLY phonetically.

All I got out of it was that the presenter is a douche.

duckpoopy: Looks a few thousand hundreds dollars worth of PC tossed onto pile of goodwill furniture.

Funny thing is none of it looks impressive...

I always find it funny, some will spend regular money into a system and a bunch of accessories that because of brand and such are "amazing", but aren't, and claim to have a kick-ass system.

Maybe to the average Facebook soccer mom, but seriously... meh...

At least get decent furniture and have a true setup that a evil genius bent over taking the world would be happy with.

I custom built my desk extension to handle my system and the extra equipment, wasn't hard, wasn't that expensive, looks great and very functional.  I'm have to get a picture once I clean my office up.. to much papers to file and toys to put away.

Techno Romancer...  have yet to find a better giant robots fighting game.

For computers.. I'd even say Vic20... it's simplicity opened the minds of many that ended up learning the basic computer skills that lead to a life changing experience and their future.  I know that I personally learned more on that thing than full college courses did for me.

I'm not at home to take a picture of my PC setup but I'm running a component 5.1 system built with salvaged and restored Hi-Fi towers and a 50" Sony bravia display.  My PC is on the other side of the wall and the only hint you can see of it is the fact that my xbox controller is plugged into a USB cord that goes through the wall. My next addition is modern towers as it's extremely hard to find any new receivers that are able to properly power the 12" subs in the towers (they are rated up to a kilowatt FFS)  Once that is done I'll be looking for a modern receiver because despite being fully DTS capable the brand new TV doesn't recognize it as such and puts a big warning on the screen any time it attempts to pass through DTS audio even though the receiver switches to DTS and correctly outputs the audio.

I also need to pick up a sound card to encode game audio to DTS or Dolby as I only get stereo in games.

Kind of off topic, but I recently realized that I don't particularly need surround sound. Now it's just right, left and subwoofer. Sometimes I miss the center channel, but I don't miss the rest at all, and rearranging the living room is much simpler.

Depending on the speakers, you don't really need the subwoofer either.

I still like the rear channels; it's always nicely disorienting to hear birds chirping behind you.

this.

Conclusion:  Xbox owners are of below average intelligence and PS4 buyers are clearly tomorrows world leaders!

A rainstorm in Oblivion or Skyrim makes surround sound so worth it.

It is an impressive effect, but I'm still perfectly happy without it. Same way I feel about 3D basically.

So... No one is going to point out why someone would let an 8 year-old play Assassin's Creed 4, Kill Zone, and Splinter Cell?

Eight year old me playing Splinter Cell would go insane.  It's a game that requires so much thought and patience that I'd just go insane, thinking I could Donkey Kong my way through the whole thing

I haven't played the most recent one but the one before that was just another action hero easy mode wankfest.  It was sort of fun i guess, but not exactly requiring cunning and patience.

Hide that mess of wires.  And get rid of those Old-Lady Valences.  What is this, 1954?
