(Talking Points Memo)   In his "State of the State" speech Scott Walker tells of a man who struggled to find work who is now working thanks to Walker's policies. Turns out, the reason nobody would hire the guy is that he was a convicted sex offender, but hey   (talkingpointsmemo.com) divider line 151

Serious question?

Another day, another fine example of the care and the thoughtful, due diligence elected GOP officials put into their statements.

I know there's no shortage of Dem gaffes, but seriously, lately, every time the GOP opens fire on their own feet, they empty the clip, reload, and have at it again.

What's the current averages?  Eight incidents a day?  Higher?

Not just that, "two felonies and three DUIs."

Then again, maybe this will be Bieber in a few years.

2014-01-23 06:21:49 PM
I bet Obama's policies are what made him become a sex offender to begin with.

2014-01-23 06:22:26 PM
He could have saved himself by simply saying that he believes in second and third chances, and that anybody that wants to work, no matter their past, should have a job. But of course Walker or his people aren't that smart.

Yeah, but Wendy Davis wasn't quite accurate in her timeline, so it's pretty much the same thing.

Vet? I support our veterans, obviously, but at the same time, I really feel the best way to help them is to keep improving Wiconsin's economy. Veterans are self-starters, they know the value of hard work, and I have no doubt that my proposed 3% reduction of our state payroll tax will get veterans off the streets and out of the hospitals and creating small businesses of their own.

Liberal plant.

There's something wrong with someone trying to find their way back into society finding a job? It isn't something to be celebrated? How the hell is anyone supposed to rejoin society and stop farking up if they never get the chance.

I don't even know anymore. We're beyond parody or spectacle at this point. I keep waiting for that moment for someone to say that the Emperor has no clothes, but way too many people carry on as if the GOP is a serious and credible party instead of a bunch of gilded age looters and frauds.

Like everything else, for example the secret router next to his office that he used or the email telling kids to donate their Christmas presents to him, Walker had NO IDEA! That's right, he was totally surprised, so you can't blame him. He knows nothing! NOTHING.

2014-01-23 06:26:52 PM
Walker should own that he's a felon and put all these liberals with big hearts to shame.

Don't be such a dick; this is great news for all of Wisconsin's unemployed drunk driving sex offenders.

That wouldn't play well with his base. His base believes that if you are arrested once, for anything, that you should live out your life in exile and never be able to join society again. Unless of course it is them personally, a family member or a fellow Right Winger that is arrested. But for everybody else, liberals and minorities, their are no second chances.

Just google "Scott Walker secret router" for lots of articles. Someone went to jail for it, but not Walker, he knew nothing.

Cognitive dissonance is one of the 'strengths' of his base. They won't mind, in fact, they'll celebrate anything that sticks it to the liberals.
However, the cognitive dissonance of liberals on this issue really pisses me off, and I'd like to have Walker rub their faces in it.

Why would Walker need to vet him?

Does anyone here believe that the GOP doesn't identify with screwing kids? Only the born ones, of course.

To be fair, "sex offender" could mean he was convicted of taking a piss on the sidewalk.

In fact, if you want to start a productive conversation about the absurdity of the penal system, this is the perfect opportunity and its going to waste while people put party over country.

Nothing's wrong with it, and if Walker were smart, he'd spin it by saying, "if this guy can get a job. . ."

Yeah, I know, if.

Uh, liberals are sitting back and watching this guy fark up, pointing and laughing. If he had come out and said "yeah, I put a guy out there with a past, but that's because in America, everyone should have the chance to turn their life around," it's not the Dems that would have a problem with it.

Records show Barber had two felonies and three drunk-driving offenses under his belt and was in and out of prison over the past decade, according to the Journal-Sentinel.

Wow. That's enough to make your eyes cross!

His people can spin it like this.
Because of my policies employment in our state is now so strong that we've had to resort to hiring people like this because everyone else already has a job.

The problem is that Gov Fetal Alcohol Face touted this guy's employment as proof that Wisconsin is getting "back to work." And the main reason this guy had been out of work was that he kept getting charged with DUIs and sexual assault and he kept getting his license and probation revoked.

Walker used a bunch of human anecdotes to distract from the fact that he has not delivered on his promised job creation, and Wisconsin has in fact fallen behind in that regard.
