"Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women," Huckabee told his audience at the Republican National Committee's winter meeting in downtown Washington. "That's not a war on them. It's a war for them. And if the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control, because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it."

What the fark?

No, seriously, what the fark? What is the train of thought that leads to this?

Also, why is it uptight moralizing farkwits who seem to obsess the most about "controlling" their libido and people who accept that their libido is a thing that's a part of our lives and can be expressed naturally in positive or negative ways don't freak out about it nearly as much? Why does libido need to be controlled? What other human drives are so dire they need to be controlled rather than recognized and embraced with moderation?

"It's the Democrats waging a war on women! They're the ones who think women can't control their desire to work outside the home and need the government to give them equal pay!"

"It's the Democrats waging a war on women! They're the ones who think women can't control their vaginas and need the GOVERNMENT to kill babies for them instead of them doing it themselves like god intended!"

If you had Mike Huckabee's overpowering sexual magnetism and pumped out Mike Huckabee's aphrodisiacal pheromones everywhere you went, you'd have a distorted view of the female desires as well, submitter

Bloody William: What is the train of thought that leads to this?

I believe they refer to it as "mansplaining".

"You sluts are just a victim of your gender!" - Republicans.

2014-01-23 04:16:55 PM

James!: "You sluts are just a victim of your gender!" - Republicans.

I think you're misinterpreting it.

"Democrats think you're sluts for wanting to let you express sexuality! We respect you by knowing you'll be good girls and only have sex when you find a man to submit to!"

2014-01-23 04:17:47 PM
So GLAD to know stuff that birth control medication helps alleviate, like endometriosis, is simply a matter of my out of control libido.

2014-01-23 04:17:59 PM
Dems don't think women can control their libido so we as Republicans need to pass more laws to control their reproductive rights.

Seems legit.

2014-01-23 04:18:09 PM
"The fact is the Republicans don't have a war on women, they have a war for women, to empower them to be something other than victims of their gender."

For example, they keep telling women "Don't think of yourself as a rape victim, think of yourself as a new mom!"

2014-01-23 04:19:04 PM
So married women should be able to control when they get pregnant according to these Republicans?

Back in the Middle Ages, women were commonly held to be the oversexed gender, always tempting virtuous men.

/they also believed in prayer as medicine, education was for the privileged, and rich people were blessed; poor people cursed.

Was I the only one that thought this was one of the most apt examples of GOP cognitive dissonance to date?

Can someone give me even one good reason for a woman to support the Republican platform?

"If the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing them for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it," Huckabee said. "Let's take that discussion all across America."

So, basically, your message to women who avail themselves of the birth control mandate is that they're lustful, communist sluts and they should close their legs and vote republican instead?

Yea... don't let me stop you. You take that discussion wherever you want.

It's true. Current Republican beliefs are straight out of the "dark ages".

Actually, to contradict myself, if you read some medieval poetry you'll discover they weren't quite as prudish as the modern conservative movement.

I'd condemn that as gross oversimplification and portraying Republicans as inhuman monsters when no one would ever seriously believe that, but...

I love how they are blind to their own prejudices.

"Women use birth-control because they're dirty sluts! Now WE don't think you're dirty sluts, so we're denying BC coverage. If you don't find that empowering, it's probably because you're a dirty slut. But again, WE don't think you are, unless you use BC - so vote Republican."

What a clever plan! Now Democrats' support for birth control is totally going to backfire on them! After all, almost no women take birth control, and that comment didn't come off as clueless, weird or patronizing at all. I think all Republican men should find some way the words  "libido" and "Uncle Sugar," into their comments about women and their healthcare needs. Women will start voting Republican in droves.

And besides playing the role of Sugar daddy to nubile young women with poor control of their libidos has Always been handled by the PRIVATE sector in America,  specifically older, wealthy white men.  In usurping this role Obama is showing his disdain for the traditional values our society has always run and perpetuating his agendas of class warfare and racial division...
