Dear Mr. Beck,

You do realize I went up against a Pope and the orthodoxy of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, right?
You do realize that I fought with my life and honor against the ignorance of established dogma, right?

You know, if I were alive today, I'd come over there and punch you right in the pants, for using me as a reason to keep people ignorant of scientific discovery, right?

You just watch yourself mate,
Galileo Galilei

ChimpMitten: Tymast: why aren't our children learning to measure in cubits?   all I ever hear is inches this, yards that.   Football is the worse offender not only do they work on the day of rest, they use these units in front of impressionable children who now think that is the right thing to do.

What's a cubit?

Dear Mr. Galilei,
you really should not have called the Pope a simpleton in your book. Insulting the Holy Father that way is the entire reason you were put on trial, and not because of your scientific beliefs. Heliocentrism vs Geocentrism was just an excuse to put you on trial, chastise you, ban your work Dialogue and commit you to house arrest.

You should in fact be thanking for the Holy Father for your arrest and confinement, because it allowed you to focus on what became your greatest work the book Two New Sciences.

Don't make us dig you up and excommunicate you.

The Holy Father.

vaakenjab: Again, Beck and his ilk need to be more specific.  They want CHRISTIAN creation stories to be taught along side science.  If schoolboards said OK to teaching the Islamic creation myth, I'm pretty sure Beck would be blubbering tears yet again.

Considering the Islamic creation mythology is the same as the Hebrew and Christian mythologies...

But, that might be an effective tactic: "Glenn Beck wants force school districts to teach the Muslim creation story!!!"

Glenn Beck is still upset that he found out the world does not revolve around him.

/We would have imprisoned Galileo if he raped and killed a young girl in 1990.

Islam has a different creation myth than Judaism/Christianity?

They believe in a really big bang. It's celebrated with the holiday of Ka-Boom.

My most illustrious Lord Father,

Dad?  Dad, relax, don't get all worked up.  They're conservative Republicans.  They have more issues than Catholics do.

And "mate"?  When did you become Australian?

Your most affectionate daughter,

Sister Maria Celeste

Dr. Hovind is like Gallileo, in that he has been sent to prison for practicing his first amendment right of free religion.  I suspect Dr Hovind's case will end up in the Supreme Court soon..

I thought "with or with out you" was "before he gets you" and that the song was about a shark attack,
In my defense I have a 65 Db hearing loss.
