That's what I'm thinking.

I just checked the federal criminal statute of limitations, and it doesn't seem to fall into one of the exceptions.

After seeing the movie "Goodfellas", I wouldn't think there would be anyone left to arrest.

The five defendants named Thursday include Vincent Peter Asaro, Jerome Paul Asaro, Thomas Peter Defiore, John Paul Rigano and Jack Peter Bonventre.

Almost all of them were named Peter or Paul. It was unbelievable. There must have been two dozen Peters and Pauls at the wedding. Plus, they were all married to girls named Marie. And they named all their daughters Marie. By the time I finished meeting everybody, I thought I was drunk."

There were like 15 people clipped in the wake of that heist.  No statue of limitations on murder.

People were killed over the heist so there's no statute of limitations.

You mean the bit where he's in the Mob for 3 or 4 decades and doesn't harm anyone in the film?

Well, except the rich neighbor who beats up and tries to rape his girlfriend/soon to be wife.

FlyingJ: I imagine the Fed's spokesperson had a boombox playing the overture from "Layla" when they announced it

Interesting fact: The music for that scene was not just added as post-production sound track work.  Scorcese carefully planned the scene and the music being together, and he had Layla playing on loudspeakers as they filmed so the camera and dolly operators could exactly sync the movements to the music.

(Watch the "making of" film on the DVD if you get a chance.  It has a ton of interesting stuff like the above.)

thefonz37: Wait, didn't Henry Hill rat everyone out?  Or did he rat for something different?

I don't know that he actually knew who committed the murders that occurred in the wake of the heist.  He knew that Burke ordered them but I don't think he knew who actually did it.  And Burke was only ever convicted of fixing BC basketball games and 1 murder which Hill did rat on.  He got 20 years in prison and died of lung cancer in prison in '96.

If I remember correctly only the Lufthansa guy that was their inside guy was ever convicted of anything related to the heist.  All the murders in the wake of it were never solved that I am aware of.

It's hilarious that DeNiro has basically made a career out of repeating himself an unreasonable amount of times in his dialog.  It's his bread and butter.

That was Scorcese's version of the baptism scene in the Godfather. Both brilliant, and well-executed (pun intended).
