While I think the whole Oak Island thing is interesting, this show is unbearable.   Six minutes of content stretched into one hour shows.   It makes Gold Rush seem action-packed.

Marshmallow Jones: While I think the whole Oak Island thing is interesting, this show is unbearable.   Six minutes of content stretched into one hour shows.   It makes Gold Rush seem action-packed.

In the beginning, there was content interspersed with few ads. Then there were sitcoms that did three acts with a total of 4 minutes of commercial space. Then the VCR came around and people started by time shifting their soaps, and then cable meant the viewership was spread over a dozen commercial channels plus three movie channels. Then the DVR and digital services came about, both wired and satellite, and now the viewers watch a hundred different channels, and the ad dollars are spread out as well. So now they must insert more commercials, but we record and time shift and fast forward through the commercials. But now the content is so thin they must bulk out the story and cross their path again and again to stretch the content to fill the gaps between commercials. And thus you arrive at the pinnacle. The History channel show you can watch at 4x playback and get the same level of comprehension as single speed. With no need to slow down for content, commercials blaze by at incredible speed. You truly can watch a season in an hour.

Now, for the next generation of ad. Someone call Bayer, I have their next advertising campaign. We run something more grotesque than this picture for two minutes with their aspirin bottle in the upper left corner.

Well, it's as far North as you WANT to go in Michigan. Unless you're hunting, camping, or snowmobiling. Our want to see what people dressed like 30 years ago.

All kidding aside, I spent a lot of time in the UP growing up. Love me some pasties. Even have some family up there still. But going across the Mighty Mac can be like going through a time warp.

/Traverse City rocks too
//the article did say they were from the UP originally, so some points allowed

agreed. I am fascinated with the Oak Island story and money pit the drag on of the show is bad. It is only 5 episodes I believe. Thankfully i have it on DVR so I can fastforward to any parts that might be interesting.

Odds are no one ever did. Most books and websites on the story just repeat the same unverified tales over and over again as if they were facts. When you look at it with a critical eye the whole tale falls apart.
