well, their hip hop did shock and rock the nation, like the emancipation proclamation.
anyone who spent the 90s listening to 1st and 2nd round wu tang and their solo albums [also gravediggaz, sunz of man and the rest of the tertiary clan] knew this from the start.
thats why rza keeps doing the soundtracks.  ghost dog i think was a much better fit for the ethos.
/the whitest person i know who has seen wu tang live many times and most of the clan in solo tours
//back when they still werent relevant
///bartended for gza and masta killa in the break room at the conference center for a free concert at copper mountain way back in the day
////they wanted weed

Wu Tang taught me that currency is a controlling force in all aspects of my daily life. So acquire currency, dolla dolla bill, ya'll.

Kill Bill sucked

2014-01-23 01:13:07 PM
Wu Tang taught me that if I get hit by a blunt object I'll see pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars and green clovers.

The author is probably on to something.  I know for a fact that one of the films samples parts of Liquid Swords, a WuTang off-shoot.

I saw Wu Tang back in the day because they were touring with System of a Down. This was right around the time SoaD released their first album which seemed interesting so I went. The only thing I remember about WuTang's set is that they stopped halfway through and refused to start the next song until women lifted up their shirts. I don't know what made me sadder, the fact that musicians would use their control over the audience to do something so gross, or the fact that so many women were willing to oblige. I saw a lot of gross naked women that night.

Ah yes, Shaw Bros. movies with the occasional Bruce Lee movie shown now and then.

Awesome.

Wu-Tang taught me that it is rather shameful to hide my true intentions on certain individuals.

Russell Crowe has far too much fun in this film, and it's got one of the best death scenes in recent film history.

That is quite possibly the best hip hop album I can think of. There are top shelf gangsta rap albums from that era, but i would be hard pressed to pick rap I'd want to listen to any more than liquid swords for the umpteenth time.

I feel so very white bread because I came to garbage Asian cinema from art house Jackie Chan screenings in the late 80s/early 90s.

Is a survey of the works of the WuTang required remedial education?

/guilty of enjoying the Beastie Boys too much during that era

I love it too, but admittedly, i probably haven't heard it in 15 years.  Your post has motivated me to locate it and pick it up this weekend.
