I got the first couple in 5-8, but I was thrown by #4 being a detail of a larger work of art.

Shopped.

OK, that's a pretty cool concept.

Image #2.....I can name that penis in 14 clicks.

2014-01-23 10:50:27 AM
The second one:  At one point I thought it was peanut butter jelly time.

Yeah, that was dumb. The rest, surprisingly enjoyable.

This is inspiring. I actually want to do some of these in tile mosaics now.

2014-01-23 10:53:30 AM
10-11 clicks.

2014-01-23 10:54:12 AM
Usually in the mid teens.

2014-01-23 10:55:47 AM
1 - 8

2 - 10

3 - 13

4 - 13

5 - 14

Kinda horseshiat though. Don't know how you include a sculpture since every photo will be different, therefore you really arent decoding the art itself, but someone elses documentation of that art.  Second, including only a portion of a larger work of art is also suspect.

2014-01-23 10:57:38 AM
12-14 clicks to either identify the work or know that it wasn't one I recognized.

2014-01-23 10:58:29 AM
11,
13 (then I realized they weren't all going to be paintings)
12
13 (that's cheating by only showing part of the image >.<)

The sweet spot for most people seems to be between 11-13.

I grew up with pixellated porn. I should be an expert at this.

2014-01-23 11:03:20 AM
I guessed the first one was a Van Gogh without any clicks, and identified which one in 7.

So I figured I'm probably some sort of savant genius at this sort of thing.

The rest I got between 11 and 15... So I actually suck and just got lucky on my first try.

I managed to get #1 in 6 clicks, but Van Gogh is my favorite artist, so it probably wasn't fair to the rest of you.

2014-01-23 11:05:09 AM
fark this is dumb

7, 6, 7, 7, 6

2014-01-23 11:10:03 AM
Thanks Subby, that was fun.

The guy shoulda pixellated a Mark Rothko painting or better yet one of Frank Stella's black things just to be a dick.

Try porn pixels.

Masterpieces like you've never seen them before .... especialy if you're tea party ....cause you have never seen them . ever. or heard of them . ever.

This isn't hard, but I don't like that they are doing things like only part of a work of art or pieces that aren't paintings or pictures.  How can you possibly distinguish between marble statues without a fair bit of detail.

1 - 11
2 - 15
3 - 12
4 - 14
5 - I didn't know what that was before, but it was on my literature book in high school

2014-01-23 11:13:13 AM
I clicked a couple of those to the point of them being high resolution and I still don't know what the f*ck they are.

Really?  Most of these are t-shirts.

I got them all right, without having to click at all. I just scrolled down. They always put the answers at the bottom.

2014-01-23 11:15:46 AM
At some point they start to look like a nice 8-bit representation I'd expect to see on my Commodore 64.

Exactly, and the Tea Party are huge fans of t-shirts.  They wear them everywhere.

2014-01-23 11:29:09 AM
10, 13, 12, 10, 12

I also cry foul on 2 and 4.

2014-01-23 11:29:25 AM
Without clicking on any, I'll make the following guesses:

1) Starry Night
2) the Mona Lisa
3) ??? Could be Prometheus Chained, the Griffon Vulture Tearing at his Liver, but that would be too obscure for a mass-market article.
4) Creation of Adam
5) Girl with a Pearl Earring

How'd I do?

Russ1642: I grew up with pixellated porn. I should be an expert at this.

But they didn't scramble the sound, did they?

2014-01-23 11:30:28 AM
The first and last one took me only 4 clicks. David was kinda hard because it could have been almost any statue until you go to a high level of detail. The wave was a bit easier, but the Creation of Adam was tricky since it's a detail.

2014-01-23 11:32:38 AM
1) 2 clicks.   seriously.
2) 10 clicks  (I was kinda pissed at this one because I assumed they were all paintings)
3) didn't get it.  Never even heard of it.
4) 4 clicks.   (saw the grey, the blue, and the flesh tones)
5) 4 clicks    (saw black background, flesh tone, brown, and cobalt blue)

2014-01-23 11:33:44 AM
1: 3 clicks. Seriously. When you're cued to "classic works of art" and have that color palette, guessing *that one* gives you pretty good odds.
2. 10 or 11, because I was expecting a painting.
3. 10 until I recognized the work, but never knew the name.
4. Screw you. Show me the whole painting or nothing.
5. about 5. Same deal as #1.

The sad thing is that most morons probably can't name any of them even while looking at the "depixellated" image.

by the way, you might not want to google that at work.  Depending on your workplace's position on whether or not it is art.
