Puberty at 5, or "precocious puberty", is a symptom of at least one or two rather interesting pathologies.  It's definitely not normal.

Yeah, but there has been a measurable trend towards younger puberty across the population in the western world.

Younger puberty as in 10-12.  And it's well documented why that happens: food and environment.  It's funny that girls in homes with stepfathers hit puberty earlier.  Apparently biological daddy's pheromones are registered by infant females, and serve as a puberty-delayer.  Non-related male's pheromones register with pre-pubescent females as "breeding male nearby, get ready to breed now!"

I've been trying to help break that record for years.

Considering the number of chemicals they keep warning are contaminating everything around you always seem to be listed as "endocrine disruptor, mimics estrogen", I'm not surprised.

Citation?  Cuz, from TFA:

So far, evidence for any one theory remains both elusive and inconclusive.

It doesn't just happen to girls.  I was 8 when my man fur started growing in, which I'm pretty sure is a sign of puberty.

I remember one day after taking a bath, I went into the living room and laid down on the floor to watch some TV.  My mom walked in and mentioned that I forgot to wash the back of my legs and then she realized it was hair.  She didn't know what to think.

I hope it happens later for my daughter. I know it did not hit me until 14. One summer I left 100 lbs came back a foot taller and 180 lbs. Many scores were closed that year.

Happy Father: I hope it happens later for my daughter. I know it did not hit me until 14. One summer I left 100 lbs came back a foot taller and 180 lbs. Many scores were closed that year.

Boys hit puberty a bit later than girls. My mom started when she was 10, I was 12 (on April 1st, I was terrified my mom wouldn't believe me), and my sister was in the middle, when she was about 11. That seems to be average for many girls these days.
