Um, oatmeal is #1. (Whole grains)

For the record, this is the "you did it to yourself fatty, type-2 diabetes." Not the "sorry but you pancreas doesn't work at all and if you don't inject yourself daily with insulin for the rest of your life you croak type-1 diabetes."

Type-1 is a severe, unavoidable disease that typically appears during childhood or in one's early twenties.

Type-2 is a consequence of shoving too many calories in your fat face and refusing to exercise.

Ya know, this old house has been in our family for generations. For about as long as we've been serving Grady's Oats Instant Oatmeal with every breakfast. I live here all alone now, just like my Uncle Ray before me. Well they say that he used to like to wait 'til it was really late at night, then he'd slip into a pink taffeta gown and fill his panties with piping hot Grady's Oats Instant Oatmeal. Then he'd dance around the backyard in the moon light, stare into the neighbors' windows and tell filthy stories to their animals. They say on a moonlit night, you can still see him out there dancing.

Grady's Oats Instant Oatmeal: It's a delicious way to eat and a nutritious way to live.

Umm no. Type-2 diabetes is from eating too much foods that are broken down to glucose to the blood and require an insulin response.

Fats like olive oil have many calories but do not break down into glucose. So, it has no effect on diabetes.

NO!

Over-indulge in the good stuff. Don't eat the poison.

Whoever thinks it is OK is eat poison as long as it is in moderate amounts? The effects of these poisons accumulate over time and after years all the ill-effects start to come out.

And, by poison I mean processed foods with all sorts of chemical crap.

What a horrible article. My RD would delete the first one.

Lots of DARK leafy greens, then other veggies, legumes, nuts, meats, oils. Fruit on the market is like candy compared to wild varieties, and was never year round plentiful.

As for processed foods, ask "could I make this myself?" I could never make anything like a toaster pastry or an Oreo. I could, unrealistically, make cheese, but I'd never manage Velveta. I sauer my own kraut, but I buy pickles. Chickens are easy, pigs are hard, and cattle require specialized equipment.

Eating animals (with their good-for-you and yummy fats) and vegetables, with minimal fruit just might work.

It's a consequence of insulin production which is stimulated by sugars and carbohydrates. Cut down on (or eliminate) those and you'll (probably) be fine.

To SOME people, if you cannot walk out your back door and pluck it off or pull it from the ground, wipe it off on your shirt and eat it, it IS processed.

6 things to do and don't

1. Do eat the dark/rich colored leafy green vegetables and berries. High nutrient and anti-oxidant value
2. Do eat whole grains, lean unprocessed meats, nuts, legumes, fish, and light processed Olive oils and most dairy products. Use viable replacements if allergic or simply intolerant to whatever you are simply unable to digest properly . Refrain from eating in excess of 1000 calories a day of Red Meat.
3. Don't take vitamins, unless your diet is deficient. Don't drink juices, as the commander of the Limey Navy couldn't stop scurvy with the "lime extract" he tried to sell after the battle of Trafalgar. The nutrients oxidize and you end up with a bowl/glass of citric acid and sugar, both of which rots your teeth too.
4. Avoid processed sugars, processed flours, light colored starchy foods, enriched/bleached products.
5. Over 40, do take an 81 mg baby aspirin, and contemplate adding a statin to your daily intake. Both of these products do reduce inflammation and reduce the ability of cholesterol to accumulate in the blood vessels, as well as improving blood flow to extremities.
6. Do move around. Every 30 minutes of sit time, needs about 5 minutes of up time. Your blood maybe pumped, but all of your other hormones, and other processes are only fully circulated when your structural and movement muscles are moving in a regular contracting/expansion manner.

/7 Profit?

My dad has been fit and active his whole life. He's always eaten a good diet and never had a weight issue. A few years ago (early 70's) he found out he was dancing on the edge of type 2. That scared me. If my dad could get it...

He gave up his one soda a day with lunch, and the majority of his desserts (dessert being a single cookie, a single small scoop of ice cream - he never pigged, just ended the day with a sweet) and limited his pasta to a small portion once a week. He is completely fine now.

Soda is teh devil. Give that up.
