Look, the issue isn't that this is a huge scandal or anything.  The issue is that the media is raking Christie over the coals over a single Fort Lee traffic jam, which they knee-jerk blame on petty partisan politics, but the same blame game could easily be made for De Blasio here.  The Christie 'scandal' is no more of a scandal than this De Blasio plowing is a scandal, no matter how much the biased media wants to make you think it is.

Sloth, a good example of the conservative narrative and why this is supposedly a story, a deflection tactic.

Is this supposed to be a haiku?

Fun fact, "to blow" in German is "blasen," is both meanings of the word.

So Brooklyn gets taken care of and the shiatheads that live above 14th street have a minor inconvenience?

The people on the UES didn't get targeted by the De Blasio, they got preferential treatment by Bloomberg.  If the swells on the UES really believe all that BS about free markets, they are free to hire private cleaning crews in addition to what services the city provides equally to everyone.

Thank God this didn't happen in Jersey.  CNN would be up in arms for days.

Well that's great, now how about sending a 6 train by once in a while this morning?  Or having someone clear the bus lanes on 5th avenue of the snow that's still there from 65th down to midtown?

So was it a conspiracy against Lhota voters or not?

It'll get better, almost Utopianish, once all the unwanted Conservatives and Catholics that have no place in NY leave. Just ask the enlightened Governor.

I really don't give a crap about this.  Flint got 17" in that single big storm, and yet our 12 trucks quit plowing early and never finished.  There are folks still with thick ice covered roads that haven't seen a plow since 2012 (not saying the snow has been piling up that long).  A guy falling on his head doesn't get a mention, we barely get a mention on tv about all the expressway accidents that has became a daily morning ritual shutting down sections of interstates.  The closest thing we had to this was a plow guy buried a kid in a snow berm and had to dig the kid out before the kid died.  That's what it takes to make the news here.  Not people who haven't learned to walk on ice yet.

/I think the kid was tunneling in the snow when plow guy buried him, not seeing the kid's tunnel opening before hand

This.

Those of us in the outer boroughs got second-class treatment during snow storms throughout the Giuliani and Bloomberg years. I'm not saying it's right for any New Yorker to intentionally get subpar services from the city, but I'll say we lived through it and so will you.

de Blasio will also learn, if he hasn't already, that the Sanitation Department and the unions that provide its labor both have their own political agendas, over which the Mayor will only ever have partial influence.

By "knee-jerk blame on petty partisan politics" I think you mean "basically ignore for a few months until e-mails became publicly available that showed it to be caused by petty partisan politics", but, y'know, potayto patahto.

I am a little late to the game here, so help me out.

Did De Blasio claim the plowing took longer because of a non-existant study, and did emails coms out where his closest advisors and aides sent emails telling them not to plow for revenge and talking gleefully about kids not getting to school because their parents were republicans, or are you a complete and total moron?

Not in that neighborhood.  Only part of Manhattan that didn't vote for DeBlasio.

A lot of the UES is Jewish. They probably voted for DeBlasio. They're just complaining. It's a snowstorm. What do you expect?!?

/Manhattan isn't the only borough, you know.

Up and coming Republican involved in traffic incident is lambasted in media repeatedly on a national level

Up and coming Democrat involved in traffic incident is quietly glossed over in most national papers except for apology which makes some appearances

And some wonder why the Republicans have a problem with the mass media outlets?

Yeah, that's kinda what I'm taking away from it, too (I live in the Dallas area).

And FYI to the poor folks in Manhattan, in the last ice storm we had here (north Texas, first week of December), semis (and other vehicles, but lots of semis) were stuck on I-35 north of Dallas for 12 hours+. TXDOT had to send road graders to scrape the 3-4 inches of solid, rock-hard ice off the roads so people could actually drive on them.

Idle musing of the day: why is it called a blow job? Wouldn't "suck job" be more accurate?
