Only person that you'll hurt by shutting down a gas station is the guy who owns it and chances are he's not making very much money.

Really. What they should do is get everyone to not buy gas this coming Tuesday! That'll teach those oil barons!

All this fracking nonsense always amuses me.  Texas is fracking the hell out of the place everywhere they can find a good hole, yet we are not being poisoned and our homes are not falling into sink holes.

Geology, hydrology, fracking techniques, and population density may be factors in complications due to fracking.

Well a True American Capatalist wouldn't oppose fracking, so what does that leave, huh Boris?

yup!  and for the most part we are happy to be guinea pigs.  We also don't have a bunch of hippies running around the state screaming their heads off about fracking.  I think the main reason is because most texans will gladly stare them down and tell them to get out of the way of our oil revenue!

Gasoline doesn't come from fracking anyways, so it's not a direct connection to begin with.  The message they were trying to send still stands - the images of them in front of the gas station labeled with the company name are still out there.

Green Fade-Out: Europe to Ditch Climate Protection Goals

The EU's reputation as a model of environmental responsibility may soon be history. The European Commission wants to forgo ambitious climate protection goals and pave the way for fracking -- jeopardizing Germany's touted energy revolution in the process.

I bet all your sinkholes are going to Florida!

Fracking sounds pretty scary to me but I don't really give a shiat either way as I live in WA and we don't do that shiat up here (not yet, anyways). I'd get educated if it mattered to me personally (maybe).

Absolutely; the people aren't cutting down on usage, they are simply re-scheduling their usage.

Not that this stupid idea didn't somehow take hold.

So... what are your thoughts on Obama granting billions of dollars in loans to build liquid export plants for natural gas?

I get a kick out of the people that demand a boycott of gas stations/companies on Tuesday...what nimrods as all that will do is make Tuesday a nice and easy day for the company or station and then Wednesday will be exceptionally busy as all the folks that did without gas on Tuesday will fill up on Wednesday so the station will in reality lose very little money, if any.  Then if you fill up at another station, the station loses money but the giants that you area trying to hurt will as the little you and your buds cost them in one day at one station will be but a minor blip in the sale of millions of gallons per month.  Only if everyone in the country would participate in a nation-wide boycott for a month or so against a particular company and not buy from their stations and the independents that sell their gas could you possibly make an impression.  Other than that, boycotting a particular station only hurts the owner of that station and not the giants.

Pro-tip:  Gasoline and diesel do not flow directly from Oil Giant X's refinery to Oil Giant X's branded stations.  In most cases you are buying a mix of Oil Giant X, Oil Giant Y, Oil Giant Z, smaller company p, smaller company q, smaller company s products that have all been pooled together.  This is even the case at non-branded discount stations you find at grocery chains, with the exception that these stores do not throw in any fancy additives that the brand name franchise stations do.

So basically even if you boycott a certain brand name, you really aren't doing much anyway.  The key is to reduce demand thru efficiency improvements and alternative sources.

Yeah, I remember a few years ago some douche opened a gas station he called "TERROR FREE GAS", but then basically admitted he had absolutely no way to tell where the gas was actually coming from.
