gja: Frank N Stein: Reported for abuse of new flash tagLOL. Riiiight. Prolly a modmins buddy.
Nana's Vibrator: Well...thank god it wasn't a gunnado, where the winds swirl around at devastating speeds and lift up your house and shoot you in your basement. And you know who you have to thank for that.
ultradeeg: adragontattoo: The University of Oklahoma says authorities have found no evidence of shots being fired on campus and no injuries have been reported. It's like amazon wanting to send you packages before you order them. But with killin.
R.A.Danny: NEWSFLASH: Nothing happened and people are upset at the lost opportunity to talk gun control.
drew46n2: seriously, when are you libs going to WAKE UP and acknowledge that COMPULSORY CARRY for everyone over the age of 6 3 is the only way to stop these things in their tracks??
Perducci: R.A.Danny: NEWSFLASH: Nothing happened and people are upset at the lost opportunity to talk gun control.Don't worry. Hundreds of other people have been senselessly shot elsewhere across the United States today.
mstang1988: Looks like we don't even need a "days since" ticker anymore, just assume 0. I can only imagine how freaked I would be if I got a text on campus where it was happening (like Purdue sent out yesterday).
Blues_X: Lockdown lifted, all clear given on campus.
Perducci: Don't worry. Hundreds of other people have been senselessly shot elsewhere across the United States today.
give me doughnuts: Our top story tonight: Pretty much nothing happened. And for our hearing-impaired viewers: OUR TOP STORY TONIGHT - PRETTY MUCH NOTHING HAPPENED!!!
Alonjar: Perducci: Don't worry. Hundreds of other people have been senselessly shot elsewhere across the United States today.[Citation needed]I bet a lot of those people were shot for very good reasons.
coeyagi: School shooting in back-to-back-to-back days trifecta in play.... bets? Missouri is about due, ain't it?
bighairyguy: Oklahoma, the only state Arkansas can make fun of.
TheBeastOfYuccaFlats: It's telling that everyone assumed this was real, since, let's face it, the chances were really high that it would be.Saying that most gun owners are law abiding citizens doesn't mean a whole lot when it only takes a handful of bad eggs to negate those responsible folks' precautions.
Nabb1: Perducci: R.A.Danny: NEWSFLASH: Nothing happened and people are upset at the lost opportunity to talk gun control.Don't worry. Hundreds of other people have been senselessly shot elsewhere across the United States today.I was about to tell him not to worry and that someone wouldn't let it go to waste, but man, that was fast.
Fubini: mstang1988: Looks like we don't even need a "days since" ticker anymore, just assume 0. I can only imagine how freaked I would be if I got a text on campus where it was happening (like Purdue sent out yesterday).I would sit tight in my office, but not freak out. Purdue has 40,000 students, staff, and faculty. A report of someone shot on Purdue's campus is like a report of someone shot in a small city. That's not even counting how Purdue is blended into West Lafayette.Where I went to undergrad the town + college numbered about 25,000 people total. There was one homicide while I was there (which did involve a student, incidentally), and while everyone was aware that it had happened, no one I knew felt personally afraid.
Acharne: hardinparamedic: Freaking gun grabbing libtards. Gunfire in oklahoma is a pretty normal thing. We even shoot at eachother to say hello.inner ted: here comes the derpToo late ted, it's already arrived.
drew46n2: yes, like using their cell phones in a theater, cutting a Law-Abiding Gun Owner™ off in traffic, or being black in Florida.
Super Chronic: There were no shots fired today where I work, either. (So far.) Why is that not in the news?
LeroyBourne: bighairyguy: Oklahoma, the only state Arkansas can make fun of.I thought the joke went. "Even Texans make fun of people who live in Oklahoma."
Buzzerguy: There are no reports of anyone brandishing concealed weapons for any reason, thankfully, as that could have gotten out of hand quickly.
Somacandra: January the 22nd, 2014, was much like any other winter's day in Norman, and Ralph Melish, a file clerk at an insurance company, was on his way to work as usual when...Nothing happened.Scarcely able to believe his eyes, Ralph Melish looked down. But one glance confirmed his suspicions. Behind a bush, on the side of the road, there was *no* severed arm. No dismembered trunk of a man in his late fifties. No head in a bag. Nothing. Not a sausage. For Ralph Melish, this was *not* to be the start of any trail of events which would not, in no time at all, involve him in neither a tangled knot of suspicion, nor any web of lies, which would, had he been not uninvolved, surely have led him to no other place, than the central criminal court of the Old Bailey.
cygnusx13: Days since last school shooting = 0
Cyberluddite: As of right now, the entire text of story reads as follows:Norman, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma says authorities have found no evidence of shots being fired on campus and no injuries have been reported.University spokeswoman Catherine Bishop says in a statement that normal campus operations have resumed except for Gould Hall, where additional checking is continuing Wednesday. You know gun violence in has gotten really bad when a story about a college campus where no shots are fired for one day is a News Flash. Hell, back when I was in college, no shots were fired on our campus damn near every day!
Sliding Carp: I suspect the cops watch the hoopla (which expands every time) during and after every event, and don't want to be seen as doing less than somebody else, so we end up with bigger and bigger disruptions and more and more control of our movement ceded to 'the authorities' even when it seems very likely the event is over.i.e. "shooter in custody", coupled with "remain in place until further notice" and a labor- and time-intensive sweep of a large campus, worried about almost certainly non-existent accomplices.
