The Stealth Hippopotamus: more hot chicks?

Speaking of, I guess turnabout is fair play.

WWE learned an important lesson from Doctor Who about making an annoying, talentless piece of eye candy the focus of the show much to the detriment of the product.

Old Doctor Who is better because of monsters made out of painted over bubble wrap.

Please do not mix these things.  I am happy living in a wrestling filled world that is devoid of Dr. Who.

Speaking as a fan of both since the early 60s, I really liked the article.

I have seen both of the non-canonical Doctor Who movies with Peter Cushing. I love the way the Daleks can be defeated simply by being pushed over. I love the way they explode into flames for no reason, like cars in action movies. I love the MST3K treatment with Mike, Keven and Bill. They are two of the most enjoyable MST3K riffs ever.  http://www.rifftrax.com/  (I hope I can find my copy of The Wizard of Oz some day. It may be in one of the boxes I can lift.)

In short, I recommend seeing these movies AND NO OTHER DOCTOR WHO SHOW, EVER. Too late for me. I've seen several Doctor Who shows with three or four different Doctors.

The new flying Daleks ruins one of my favourite cartoons of all times. I love the idea of an alien threat that is about as dangerous as a cat on a Roomba. How did these feeble creatures ever get out of their hospital ward?

As a huge fan of Doctor Who, who started watching the classic series in the early '80's, I'd rather they do less retconning. I mean, a little is fine but screw the Ice Warriors and the Zygons, they were lame in the original series and they were lame when they brought them back.

Even the Sontarans were pretty lame in the original series but I love Straxx so whatever.

When Who is old Who is better. Who needs to be a bit alien.

Unpredictable Who, Eccentric Who, Crazy Who.

Not `Nice Boyfriend` Who...

Tom Baker was my first doctor, and our local PBS station couldn't seem to get a grip on how to show the episodes in sequence, so I saw Peter Davison in Who, right after Peter Davison in All Creatures Great and Small. There was at least one with Troughton and I could swear I saw Hartnell fussing about the Celestial Intervention Agency.

So I get a kick out of seeing the lather, but really, it's a show.

Interesting that they chose to use Bray Wyatt as the picture for the article.  He's not who most people would think of when you say "wrestling headliner", but what he is, is the most interesting character WWE has introduced in at least a decade.

Now if you will excuse me, I need to go watch Firefly again...

Coincidentally, that's almost an exact transcription of Vince's testimony from the steroid trials.

Oh, and the author of TFA is wrong to say that WWE and Impact don't have presence in Hot Topic.  WWE seems to have a continuing small presence (I bought my CM Punk yellow GTS shirt from them), and they had some TNA merch for a while when it was at its peak.

/yes, I shop at Hot Topic

From the article, I gather the World Health Organization is debating, in a wrestling ring, the merits of old doctors vs. young doctors.

You can get the "If Cena wins we complain on the internet" shirt at Hot Topic.

Showrunner Steven Moffat is clearly on the defensive against angry teenage girls at his choice of an older Doctor.

Is this actually a thing?  I must be getting old, since most of the female fans I know are in their 20's and 30's and they were all relieved when Smith's replacement was revealed to be an older guy.  That's not to say they also don't unanimously have a deep loathing of Moffat's handling of the show, it's just that it has nothing to do with his choice of casting.  I really like Jenna Coleman, but dear lord, give that girl something actually interesting to DO.

I'm surprised there's never been a Doctor Who gimmick, but I realize that Vince doesn't know what that is. He didn't even know about Pirates of the Caribbean and buried a guy who was getting over with that gimmick.

Must be a store-to-store thing, both the Hot Topic and the Spencer's at my mall stopped carrying wrestling stuff years ago. In fact, I'm not even sure where you'd go to get wrestling merch besides online.

Yeah, but Spidey would have trouble with Flair whipping out his wang and using it like one of Doc Ock's arms.

Amazon Prime has TONS of Dr. Who episodes for instant streaming. I've never watched it, but just for grins I selected an episode at random. From the images I've seen online, it looks like the 4th doctor. It's the episode where they arrive on a satellite and find the last of the humans in cryogenic sleep; it ended on a cliffhanger of some guy opening a door and what looked like a giant grasshopper jumped out at him.

I loved it, I think I'll keep watching.

Well one thing is certain, if there had been a Dr. Who movie in the late 80s/early 90s WCW would have been all over it.

That, sir, is the only mental image that Vince has ever had of people from south of the Mason Dixon line. From Hillbilly Jim to the Godwinns and now to the Wyatts, all southerners are fat, greasy sheepfarkers.

Sounds like you watched the first part of "The Ark in Space", which is indeed the 4th Doctor, Tom Baker. Pretty good one IIRC, though it's been a while since I've seen it.
