IamAwake: Farce-Side: "Boss, I need to leave work early today. I have to go pick up my wife from the middle school. She got detention again."

The girls were usually taken out of school at a young age to take care of their kids, ensuring they would never get anywhere in life.

Yes, I've heard the early 1990's were tough like that.

13 to17 are the prime years for a woman to bear a child. Not 38 to52. Don't look at me like that.

"Due to the citizens who stayed at the park to provide law enforcement with an eyewitness account of these tragic events, the officers were able to quickly identify the aggressor in this crime and will be diligently searching for her for her immediate arrest,"

---Lake City Police Chief Argatha Gilmore. Useless tax collectors, nothing more.

No.  Not even on a physical level, and certainly not on any other level.

The kid was his from an earlier relationship, he married her later. Mothers, even crazy-assed ones pushed to the brink, don't usually try to shoot their children.

/cue the examples of mothers trying to shoot their children

Meh, theres a lot of other factors in that stat beyond physical ability to safely bear children. Young teens that get knocked up probably skew to the less affluent side of the spectrum and are also less likely to seek proper pre-natal care.

Old broads having kids are just rolling the dice.

Maybe the boy was the husband's son from another relationship, and for convenience, the article writer called him "their son." At least I hope so, because getting a 12-year-old-girl pregnant is bad enough, and worse when you're 10 years older than her!

WTP 2: i call bullshot

a black mother and son  AND she knew where her husband was, this just defies the odds!!!

Yes, but....

"Due to the citizens who stayed at the park to provide law enforcement with an eyewitness account of these tragic events, the officers were able to quickly identify the aggressor in this crime and will be diligently searching for her for her immediate arrest," said Lake City Police Chief Argatha Gilmore.

Apparently the husband did not know who his wife was and the son did not know what his mom looked like because were it not for witness testimony the police wouldn't have known who to go chase after.

She had a deram too, it was to shoot her punk ass ex in the leg after hitting him with a car and doing a little light pistol whipping. Loved the fact that a 33 year old mother had a 21 year old son.

Lake City is near the juncture of I-10 and I-75, near the Florida and Georgia border.  There has always been a lot of nefarious activity thereabouts.  Not sayin' there were any drugs involved, but...

Not disagreeing that there are, but they all get together to make his "13 to17 are the prime years for a woman to bear a child " statement complete and total BS.  The 30-34 bracket is the ideal time, all factors considered (such as they are, in that graph).

That said, even on the physical level, the 13-17 would not be the "prime years."  The body is still changing, and is very hormonally imbalanced.  A stable, steady environment is the "prime" for in utero development; hormonal variances are strongly linked to infant mortality rates, mental illnesses later in life, deformations, etc.  What possible ideal is one trying for that would make 13-17 the "prime years?"  Assuming universal health care, a lack of social unrest, and equivalent nutrition - the 20-24 and the 25-29 groups would both see improvements, and even the younger groups some, but they'd still have far higher mortality rates in the 13-17 group than those in the 30-34 group, and for those who survived infancy the ones with the slightly older mothers would be much better off in a long list of ways.

I took it as a joke that 13 and 17 are both prime numbers, as did Fano.

Depressing. The fun part, of course, is that she's clearly going to jail for a long time and, as such, is probably in "fark it - let's do some mayhem" mode. Here's to hoping she doesn't hurt or kill anyone else in her run from the law.

Farce-Side: TheDirtyNacho: Farce-Side: And the father, her husband, is 43.  So at 21, he had sex with an 11 year old, and they had a son when she was 12.  What?

Poverty.  Only surprising part to me here is that they were married.

Poor people don't get arrested for statutory rape?

More like there is an element of American society that refuses to report crimes to the police.

Where did you live 20 years ago?  I think you mean 40 or 50 years ago maybe but not 20.  Even in the 80s girls were preggers in high school and not hidden away.
A whole lot of guys that graduated from our high school who dated girls a class or two under them got arrested because the girls dad didn't like the guy.. here in Florida.

Aborting many many promising careers for future neurosurgeons and nuclear physicists no doubt.
