Yeah, but do you really appreciate that there is, in fact, something wrong with that?

This isn't the 1300s - we don't need to turn the baby making machines on as early as possible just so enough are born that live, that then maintain the population level.  Our mortality rate for giving birth is pretty low now, people (unfortunately) live a really long time.  Females can now be allowed to grow up a little and be their own person; by that token, males are now able to do something more than fight and struggle between birth and death, so both genders got a bit out of modern comforts.

I don't think you actually realize that there is something wrong with her being a 33yo mother of a 21yo.  When it comes down to it, something/someone failed her as a child, and I can't....

...ok sorry, had to.

Meh, theres a lot of other factors in that stat beyond physical ability to safely bear children. Young teens that get knocked up probably skew to the less affluent side of the spectrum and are also less likely to seek proper pre-natal care.

Maybe the boy was the husband's son from another relationship, and for convenience, the article writer called him "their son." At least I hope so, because getting a 12-year-old-girl pregnant is bad enough, and worse when you're 10 years older than her!

Apparently the husband did not know who his wife was and the son did not know what his mom looked like because were it not for witness testimony the police wouldn't have known who to go chase after.

Not disagreeing that there are, but they all get together to make his "13 to17 are the prime years for a woman to bear a child " statement complete and total BS.  The 30-34 bracket is the ideal time, all factors considered (such as they are, in that graph).

That said, even on the physical level, the 13-17 would not be the "prime years."  The body is still changing, and is very hormonally imbalanced.  A stable, steady environment is the "prime" for in utero development; hormonal variances are strongly linked to infant mortality rates, mental illnesses later in life, deformations, etc.  What possible ideal is one trying for that would make 13-17 the "prime years?"  Assuming universal health care, a lack of social unrest, and equivalent nutrition - the 20-24 and the 25-29 groups would both see improvements, and even the younger groups some, but they'd still have far higher mortality rates in the 13-17 group than those in the 30-34 group, and for those who survived infancy the ones with the slightly older mothers would be much better off in a long list of ways.

Depressing. The fun part, of course, is that she's clearly going to jail for a long time and, as such, is probably in "fark it - let's do some mayhem" mode. Here's to hoping she doesn't hurt or kill anyone else in her run from the law.
