Just join DAMM -- Drunks against MADD Mothers.

Lady J: ive said it before and il say it again. if i was a journalist i would be ALL OVER anyone who vehemently campaigns against/for anything

pro drug testers always turn out to be smoking da crack
anti gay marriage headz are always caught purchasing naughty hispanic ass at some public toilet

and now this

You forgot to honor my fave, the "therapist" curing marijuana "addiction".

miniflea: In my experience the very religious are often the biggest liars and cheats. I would be interested in learning the psychology behind it. Some probably falsely claim to be devout as a shield but many I think genuinely believe.

Every Sunday I get forgiven for being a dick. Therefore, I'll just be a dick all the time and go to church to be forgiven again. Yay, free pass!

Fark you dipshiat. Prove it. I have never done it. Never got religion either. Been sober for over 20 years, and I have a terrible weakness for men who drink too much.

Also, you're an idiot. Every post I've ever seen from you shows it. So I guess I just won't see them anymore.

The closeted addictive personalities rail against marijuana legalization.

God it just gets so OLD.

We really do need a counterbalance of special interest proponents getting caught trashing their client group, just to even things out. There are lots of flavors of hypocrisy out there, gotta be some of it actually happening. CPS workers flying off the handle about how children are Satan's finger puppets. Homeless shelter organizer accidentally making a remark about how nice it is to sequester 'those people' so he doesn't have to look at them when he walks down the street. Occupy protester giving up the crusade after winning the lottery.

Every alcoholic in recovery I have met has been very preachy, judgmental, and narcissistic.   This confirms my analysis of anecdotes here on Fark and therefore must be true of everyone.

WHAT THE ACTUAL fark!? does he not see the inherent, total, ethical inconsistency?

I'M MAD. AND I'M GETTING MY MONEY BACK

In my experience, self-identified "religious, devout, faithful" types are the ones you most need to keep an eye on. The ones I have known have been morally weak, unsophisticated and lacking perspective.

Those that didn't identify as religious, OTOH, have been some of the most ethical, compassionate, intelligent and sophisticated people I've known.

SpectroBoy: ZAZ: .36% BAC, if my coversion is accurate.

They use metric percentages over there.

ZAZ appears to be correct. That site doesn't let me link to the exact results page for the conversion, but, put the units mentioned in TFA into it, and you'll get a result similar to what sie says.

But, if you're measuring breath alcohol content, why would you state the result as an approximation of blood alcohol content?

Americans are used to blood alcohol content. We express measurements in equivalent blood alcohol content when measuring breath, even if the underlying law sets alternative breath and blood linits.

I thought I would preempt the "what's that in American?" posts.

Well... yeah, but BrAC gives you an approximation of BAC. Stating BAC when the measurement is BrAC is disingenuous.

And I don't know how it works in the US, with your MADD and all that - and, admittedly, this may not be true - but common wisdom in the UK is that if the filth want to breathalyze you, you should insist on the blood reading being taken instead. So, you spend a couple of hours in the cells, while they arrange someone to take bloods, allowing your body to metabolise some more of that sweet, lovely booze.

In reality, there's not a lot of police presence on the roads where I am. The polis have decided their easiest way to generate revenue is with speed cameras. Pigs stake out certain points with mobile speed camera units a few times a year, but beyond emergency calls it's rare to see actual filth out and about.

How so? That doesn't describe how many drinks it takes to get to that level of blood/alcohol concentration.

Because drinks to BAC is nearly constant throughout your life, it's the effects that scale. The brain's and liver's ability to cope shifts up and down over the years, based on how much you feed it every day. As a first-timer a round of shots might kill you. Meanwhile there are quite a few old alcoholics who drive well enough on 0.50+ -- and make it on Fark regularly -- when charts like that claim you should be dead or in a coma. Lot of zombies at the wheel, I guess.

I'm not saying it's healthy or tolerance is laudable, but it is real. I mean, there was a Polish guy who was measured at 1.25 BAC after driving. Literally 16 times the legal limit, and still driving (very badly). He survived! Alcohol tolerance works just like any other kind of drug tolerance.
