I don't have a good feeling about the Sochi Olympics...

Curling is one of the events that I would love to go see, frankly. Seems like a fun casual game you can have a few beers and watch.

How did you do that? Curling wasn't in the Lillehammer games. I think you meant Nagano

This will forever be known as Putin's Folly.

Like a big raspberry on a kid's belly. People will look back and say.."What the hell was he thinking?"

I remember Athens had a big problem with extra tickets along with a lot of the venues almost not ready for the games.

While it would be a thrill to see Olympic events live, I don't want to be blown up by terrorists. That is probably what is going on here.

anyone who disses curling, never tried it out.  One of the best winter team sports there is

I am an avid curler, and friend to Debbie McCormick, and I know Ericka Brown well (I know her brother, Dad and mother better)

Atlanta had a bombing but did not get the pre-olympic threats Russia is getting.

There aren't that many winter team sports - hockey, bobsled, figure skating, curling, speedskating... umm am I missing something?  Being "one of the best" in a list of about five isn't that impressive.

Yeah, but this one encourages liberal consumption of alcohol.

No one letting us know how erudite they are by referencing Potemkin village? Thought that was required in all Olympic threads.

Yep. There is something bizarrely fascinating about watching curling.

I hear the Ski Jump will be a big hit this year, followed closely by IED Pressure Cooker Curling and Bobsled Car Bombing.

Could it be that Russia's ridiculous and onerous visa process coupled with political unrest and the general unwelcoming attitude  to foreigners coupled with its unassailed negative stereotypes is having an effect on ticket sales?

Totally agree.  I'd never seen it before the last Olympics, but found myself watching almost every match.  Hopefully most matches this year will be on at a reasonable time in the US.

I've said for years that curling is the single most perfect sport for television.  The timing and pace could not possibly be better.

I'd love to be able to learn how to play; maybe when I retire I'll move to Minnesota.

Skiing (both Nordic and Alpine) is as much a team sport as speedskating.  And even new watchers can learn enough (assuming competent announcers) pretty quickly to start seeing the subtleties in Alpine races.  Sadly, the U.S. pretty much never gets good coverage, at least not where most people can find it.

Also, I hope somebody makes Don Cherry interview the Norwegian men's curling team, or at least go stand next to them.  Survivors of the '60s would be freaking out something critical.

Curling is fun to play, and that and hockey are the only 2 winter olympic sports worth watching

/plus, all curling matches end with beer

Saw curling at Vancouver. Better than hockey. You have 4 matches going on simultaneously...and women's curling has some hotties...the Russian gals all looked like models
