Since the "via" pet peeve has already been pointed out, does it annoy anyone else when people say "mano y mano" when it's supposed to be "mano a mano" in regards to a fight? I mean, do you want to fight them or hold their hand in the park for a stroll?

I think that people don't understand the words, and believe that "mano" is spanish for "man".  So two men fighting alone with no interference or assistance from others would be "man and man" -> "mano y mano"

Hard to say. "Man and man" sounds like more than a stroll in the park though :)

Hey, there!  Bodyboarding is a LOT more fun than surfing, "bro". Not as steep of a learning curve, either.

By the way, a bodyboarder is not synonymous with "grom".

In my area of Florida it's not often that we have decent enough waves to practice on regularly. Had I started to learn when I was, say, ten years old it'd be one thing. But at this point we're lucky to have surf but a few times a year (and never, ever for a full "season"). So the bodyboard does just fine.

I grew up near DC, and if you can surf Atlantic chop you can surf anything. I now live a block from the beach in CA, and the water in these waves goes by faster but they're a lot smoother and easier to ride since they don't wall out or drop out backward from underneath. But the local break in Carlsbad generally isn't more than 5-6 ft unless it's a big day. I've seen it about 15-20 during a storm in 2004, but that's about it. 50' wave? No f*ckin way, brah. I'll stay on da sand an watch dem buggah go wen rip em up, ah?

I'm in Hawaii right now, west shore of Kauai, Anahola. Apparently big waves but not good for surfing. Lots of wind and choppy conditions. Still, want to go see some 40-50 waves.

Ahhh...  to be back vacationing in Hawaii...

Whirlwind "tour" around the Big Island a few years ago.  Needed a vacation from our vacation.

Pretty - for the most part.  Great place to visit.  Don't think I'd want to live there (Big Island)

I don't know; we visited both Oahu and the Big Island when we went to Hawaii, and I far preferred the Big Island over Oahu. Fewer people, a much more relaxed lifestyle, and Hilo still provides enough of an urban environment if you want that. Plus you can go from 80 degrees to below freezing on the Big Island in an hour or so.

/need to go back
