I have a whole collection of metal that would have worked better. Purified In Blood is too hard, maybe Elitist "Unto the Sun" would be cliche, but "Transmutation" could be elegant.

I kept looking for a FF button.

Anybody know what the chemical composition of the residue is?  My last college chem course was a few years decades ago.

It looks interesting but the buffering here at work is making me nuts. Have to watch this at home.
Also the music is irritating and pointless.

Amazon, Walmart, etc... They're "fireplace" or "long reach" matches

I'm not referring to the length; those are common. Unless the interview camera (not the high-speed) has a REALLY weird depth of field and FOV, that match head is the size of a large jelly bean...

It appears that he lights it with a MAPP/Propane torch from 5" - 8" away. Those torches usually have a 1/2" to 3/4" nozzle, which looks about right proportionally to the flame in the video. It's in roughly the same plane as the match, slightly back which could correlate to maybe a 15% - 30% reduction in size due to perspective when compared to the match head.

www.natecarlson.com

One could argue that the match was just very close to the camera when the guy lit it, but look at three things together:
-The match/torch.
-The guy's shoulders.
-The wall of the room behind him.

All three are roughly in focus. A lens capable of focusing on a field of 5" (match if he were holding it close), 3' (shoulders), and 30' (back wall) would have to be crazy wide-angle; like 10mm on a full frame CCD. If that were the case:
1.) The view would be crazy fisheye distorted
2.) The FOV would show something like 130°

Instead we have a FOV of something like 50°, which with that DOF means he's gotta be at least a few feet away from the lens. That removes most of the perspective error between the match head and the nozzle visible at 0:53 in the video:

i42.tinypic.com

Which would put the match head at maybe 15% - 30% smaller than the 1/2" - 3/4" nozzle. Which is stupid large for a match head...
