Losing teams always think they just need to change the quarterback. If Manziel goes to Cleveland, he will get killed out there.

In the modern NFL, you're a losing team because you don't have a QB.

Look at teams that have had long stretches of suck.  Browns, Phins, Jax, StL, Buf, etc.  None of them have had a decent QB throughout the whole time of their suckage.

largedon: MmmmBacon: elguerodiablo: If St. Louis fleeces another team to trade multiple picks again my head is going to farking explode.  How farking stupid are these assholes that they can be fleeced by Kroenke-marts?

If teams are willing to trade up, we'll be happy to take a few extra picks, to beef up our team. It's pretty simple, we need players in multiple areas, and they need a superstar QB. Fair trade.

That said, when the Pats do it, Bellichick is a genius, but when the Rams do it, we're somehow "fleecing" the other team? Fark that! I'm looking forward to us trading out of the #2 pick, and getting three or more players for that one pick that we really don't need.

I would love for the Rams to trade back with the Browns.  Rams could probably still get Sammy Watkins at the #4 pick and then get a OL or S with the #13 pick.  Plus we would add at least another 2nd or 3rd round pick for much needed depth.

/Of course this all depends on what Houston does.

The Rams have some awesome talent, but so did the Titans.  I remember when the Rams hired Jeff Fisher, all of the fans were saying: 8-8!  WE'D KILL FOR THAT RECORD!  Well, int he next few years, here comes the friction.  The Rams may surprise some people, may even make the playoffs, but Fisher has rarely been a good utilizer of talent.

My "ok with this"-ness is at maximum. While I'd rather Pey Pey get his 2nd, if the Chickens win it's ok, since their roster will get pillaged after a SB win.

I'm also ok with taking Bridgewater if the Texans don't. It's time to accept that Bradford, while an acceptably mediocre QB, won't ever get the Rams there, and we're still saddled with the last huge rookie contract pre-new-CBA.

One of these teams is not like the other. When was the last time any of those teams made a SB?

Rams: '01
Fins: '84
Jax: Nope
Bills: '93
Browns: lulz

We got mired in a few bad years after Warner left, and of late the NFCW has been stupidly difficult- but all of the picks and coaching changes are finally starting to come to fruition. 1 game under 500 in the hardest division in the NFL, where the 3rd place team had 10 wins? In a league where only two other divisions have two teams with 10 or more wins?

I'd rather be a Rams fan than a Raiders, Bills, Browns, Jags, Vikings, Titans, Fins, Bucs, Falcons...yeah.

MmmmBacon: IAmRight: FFS STOP TRYING TO BUILD THE RAMS INTO A SUPERPOWER, NFL! WE ALREADY HAVE THE BEST DIVISION IN THE LEAGUE!

No, I want the Rams to be a superpower, damnit! That way STL will have to sit and suffer for years, when the Rams move back to LA after next season.

/Should have upgraded the Ed, STL.

We've been over this. The NFL DOES NOT WANT a team in LA. The value of the Sword of Los Damocles dangling over every teams' head is too great. We didn't upgrade the stadium because it's less than 20 years old, and still feels somewhat modern and nice. The same cannot be said for many of the recent stadia that required rebuild or renovations.

Some of those I understand, but at the same time the Rams have hit their ceiling with Bradford.  They need a better QB to be better than somewhere around .500. And you think the Rams are a better built team than the Falcons?  The Falcons had one bad year where they were devastated by injuries, I wouldn't count them out of Super Bowl contention going forward just yet.

Why are you listening to songs about cock?????????

That is a different Ween album altogether.

This is a Jason LaCanfora story, which means he was probably fed it by Mike "Let me talk Bill Belichick out of drafting Warren Sapp" Lombardi.
Of the "Three stooges" that run the Browns, Lombardi's the one that's high on Manziel. And after the Devone Bess fiasco (which is going from comedy to tragedy), Lombardi's ass is on the line. This is a move made by a desperate man, which means it probably won't end well. Which makes it no different from virtually any personnel decision made by the Browns in the past 15 years.

/I kind of want Houston to draft him.
//But Bridgewater is too damn good to pass up
///So we'll draft Clowney or Bortles

If Washington will take the 33 pick (and say a 4th) for Cousins, I think Houston should take Clowney at 1.  You can build a whole defense around a great outside pass-rusher.

I think most Rams fans feel this way.

I did, but I guess at this point, with the last time the Rams had any relevance now over a decade ago, there really is no difference between them or any of those other teams.  And for some of them the future looks much more promising than it does for the Rams.

ltdanman44: 14. 1999. Browns back in Cleveland. Draft Tim Couch 1st overall.  Draft bust.

I still believe Couch wouldn't have been a bust on a different team.   There are "busts" like Couch and Carr where they may have done better in a different situation. Then there are true busts who would have been dumpster fires anywhere like Ryan Leaf and JaMarcus Russell.

whizbangthedirtfarmer: Well, I don't like the guy, but I think Cleveland needs to make some big moves.  Their defense is pretty awesome, and they just need a few pieces on offense.  I know people say it's a tough division, but it's really not:  Cincy is flawed and inconsistent, Pittsburgh is getting old, and, yes, the Ravens won the SB last year, but they've been losing a lot of those players left and right just to keep the guy who was probably least responsible for their success.  Cleveland can flip from 4th to 2nd or 1st with the right moves.

They are in the perfect position to get what they need, and don't need to trade up. They have two picks, and if they have somebody that can properly evaluate talent, they should be able to get the QB and RB that they need. That is all they need and have the picks to get them.

I'm actually with degenerate on this one.  While I've never seen anything to suggest Tim Couch had what it took to put anyone over-the-top, he wasn't a Ryan Leaf.  I'd add Joey Harrington (damn you Matt Millen!) and Vinny Testaverde to the list (I know Vinny had the career renaissance in NY and New England, but just imagine what he'd have been like if he'd had those weapons in Tampa Bay).

Alex Smith is definitely on the list.  Imagine what he'd have been like had he not suffered through the years of having  nothing in San Francisco; say what you will about him (too many checkdowns, mediocre arm strength on the deep ball, blah blah blah), but he's a chessman on the field.  I'm not a Smith fan, but he got a raw deal.

Part of the artistic beauty of sports--the NFL in particular--is imagining how any of the myriad moving parts would work in a different context.  "What if Barry Sanders had Emmitt Smith's o-line?" is the question of the ages.

Er, um, Dilfer got his trophy before he went to Cleveland.

Yeah, but he's the only one on the list who didn't fade into obscurity.

Only because ESPN hired him...and it wasn't because of his time with the Browns.
