Why would toilet paper be on my trees?

2014-01-20 10:24:23 PM
If conditions arent dry, its a quick and effective way to remove TP from a tree. If conditions ARE dry and you do it, youre an idiot.

My grandpa did it one time, a neighbor across the street called the fire dept. He was a firefighter, the station called him to see if they actually needed to come.

I will feel sympathy for these people, just as soon as I'm done laughing at them.

"The family does have homeowners insurance and plans to rebuild on the same property."

Um... that's a very nice insurance company they have, willing to pay out when they started the fire themselves.

Yeah the propane tank didn't likely contribute anything to this fire. A good old fashioned BLEVE would have leveled that house pronto.

Speaking of stupid, I am kind of surprised at the lack of reports of people burning their houses down by using a propane torch to thaw the pipes in their crawlspaces this year

/my favorite one was a few years ago about the dofus who tried to use a oxy acetylene torch to defrost the PVC pipes in his garage

THIS

Within seconds, Crausewell said the fire spread to the backyard where the propane gas tank from a grill may have added fuel to the fire.

There wouldn't be any "may have" if you involved the propane tank

Well the insurance company hasn't had its say yet.  That's just like their opinion man.

Every Halloween, the trees are filled with  underwear toilet paper. Every spring, the toilets explode.

Idiot!  You do that and you'll have to wipe your arse with leaves.

... did it work?

Why the hell is the Red Cross helping a family who burned their own damn house down? Ditto on their insurance company, for that matter. Does insurance really pay out if you are a moran and burn down your house?

If the structure is already that involved, that little 20 lb. tank might have been dangerous to be right around, but of course subby stretched the facts a little in hopes of a greenlight.

/Not that I haven't done the same myself.

Propane tanks have an escape valve which causes them to vent in a somewhat controlled manner when the pressure gets too high, precisely so they don't turn into bombs in a fire. Instead of an explosion, you get a 3 foot long blow torch shooting out of the top, which is a little better than an explosion.

csb: one failed on my propane tank due to materials fatigue or something, and those suckers are pants-poopingly loud. *CRACK HSSSSSSSS* then the neighbors come over to see why it sounds like the word is ending.

I live in Alabama, and we've had red flag alerts for the last week warning against any outdoor burning.  I guess these guys never signed up for weather alerts.

For those that live in Alabama, particularly the Birmingham area...this happened in Dora.  Further analysis is not really necessary.

To be fair, if you're torch-thawing plastic pipes, you're probably much less likely to burn the house down than if you're torch-thawing copper pipes.

Are you saying don't burn the paper, don't burn down the tree, or don't burn the propane tank?

/ Instructions unclear.
