Digitalstrange: well that and the fact that they are still defending Sherman's asshole antics, not to mention they were whining about their last Superbowl loss for over a decade leads me to Subby's conclusion about them, even if I don't agree about Manning.

First off, nobody is particularly defending Sherman. He shouldn't have made the choking gesture, and he shouldn't have made the negative comments about Crabtree, we all agree that was not a very classy thing to do. Nobody is disputing any of that. We are just saying it wasn't as bad as people seem to be making it out to be. People in the NFL talk trash constantly. Just because most of them don't do it in front of the cameras doesn't meant it doesn't happen. Besides, the entire thing is a mix of a little of Sherman's natural adrenaline high after that play and a lot of his master plan to become one of the few nationally famous defensive players ever in the history of the NFL. It is working too....  Sherman genuinely earned his way intoStanford and genuinely earned a degree using above average native intelligence and a ridiculous work ethic. He is a smart guy, and he is playing the entire national press, and you, like Yo-Yo Ma playing a Cello. Everyone in the nation with at least a passing interest in football knows who he is and is talking about him, yet most of those people would behard pressed to name 3 other defensive players not on their favorite team. Basically he is trying to pull a Dennis Rodman.. Rodman became internationally famous thanks to similar behavior despite similarly being the best at a non-glamorous specialty (rebounds) in his sport. Sherman is following in his footsteps, and so far you are all playing into his hands.

Second, you don't have a tiny pile of shiat to stand on until you man up and admit Crabtree was at least as much of a douche as Sherman.... More so actually because what he did was an actual physical foul, not just a non-harmful gesture and some comments to the press. Hitting someone in the face after the play is over is about as douche-tastic as it gets.Once you call Crabtree out about that AS WELL, then we can have a fair discussion.

As a Pats fan, I was angry at Sherman for .002 seconds for confronting Brady after the game last season until I realized "you know what? I know Brady will talk smack too, and Sherm backed his up. Who cares". In fact, by Monday I was laughing about it.

I mean, I wouldn't phrase it that way, but the officiating was pretty shiat.

The Bowman fumble thing (worked out for the Niners I guess), that end of 1st half personal foul, the running not roughing the punter call (if you hit a punter's plant leg as he lands on it, that's gotta be roughing), two or three generous spots on Lynch runs right around the 1st down line (giving the 1st is one thing, but not even calling for a measurement or giving harbaugh a chance to challenge is rough), etc.

I don't want to get into "the game would have ended differently if..." because who knows.

Yes, what amuses me about the Sherman "controversy" is that all sorts of people are saying it was classless, etc., etc.  Well, what about Fox's endless replays of a really great player suffering a potentially career-altering injury?  What about forcing viewers to watch it over and over again, with some of those viewers quite possibly Bowman's friends and family?

THAT is classless, not a guy who gave a ten second statement at the end of a hotly contested game.

Why can't it be both?

Mikey1969: "Appears" being the operative word. Shiat gets spilled in the stands ALL THE TIME.

So something got spilled over a railing exactly at the same time a 49er was being carted off the field?  Suggesting this was probably an accident is about as stupid as suggesting the actions of a single fan reflect on all Seahawks fans everywhere.

One thing I can't accept is what I read after the game about Seahawks fans throwing food at 49ers linebacker Navorro Bowman as he was being carted off the field with his knee injury. If it's true, it's beyond terrible. That's as low as it gets. I'm sure whoever did this is in a small minority of fans, because I don't think that kind of action is an accurate representation of the character of the 12th man. Navorro Bowman is a great player who plays the game the right way. When he went down, I dropped to a knee and prayed for him. He deserves better than having food thrown at him as he's carted off a field. All players deserve better than that.

-Richard Sherman

That's class.

If that's the only video they have, they need to back the fark off. I think Seahawks fans seem overly sensitive, and I'll agree that this is completely out of proportion to reality...

You do realize what people say in moments of adrenaline and what they say later are the result of two different mentalities.

Nevermind that Sherman graduated #2 in his high school and is a Graduate of Stanford.  Stanford.....they do not exactly graduate idiots at Stanford

He was a football player. If you honestly think Stanford is above finding ways to put talented idiots on their team, you are naive as f*ck.

Do you have any evidence to the contrary?

Stanford is one of the few schools that has much higher entrance standards than the NCAA minimum that most schools use.

Fox does that. I remember the game where we were down there - any play where we got away with something, 30 replays and lamentations about how we're cheating from the booth. San Francisco does the same thing, maybe it's occurring in the background of the play and they never mention it once. Crabtree fumbled in that game and there was no Mike Periera (on Twitter, he said it was a fumble and a horrible call). No replay on replay. Just a, "on to the next play!"

SacriliciousBeerSwiller: He was a football player. If you honestly think Stanford is above finding ways to put talented idiots on their team, you are naive as f*ck.

They don't deserve any kind of sports team in their dreary rainy city.  No wonder the Supersonics moved.  The seachickens are a shiat franchise too, just 2 NFCC and the rest of their history has been shiat.  After they lose in the SB (again) and they can go back to being a suck ass franchise.

Here's part of a good post from a business firm that provides servicing for Sherman's charity:

"You can tell a lot about a man about how he treats his family. This is probably my favorite thing about him. Both Branton and Richard genuinely adore their mom. It's not for show. I've had the opportunity to sit and chat with his mom and (she very much reminds me of my own mom) you can tell how great a relationship they have with one another. He's well-spoken and respectful. Oh I know that's going to get your eyebrow furled after the postgame NFC Championship interview, but I'll elaborate.

People are up in arms about his interview, so let's put it into perspective. I'll paraphrase: he said he was the best corner in the game, how dare they throw at him, and that Crabtree is a mediocre wide-out. Now, let's realize that this was just a few minutes following the conclusion of the game where his adrenaline was still rushing and he had just made the play that sealed the game... A few minutes later, he might have been more PC and a bit less demonstrative about it. Still, the word "mediocre" was the term the NFL pundits had been throwing around for a week describing some of his teammates. I assure you, he forgets nothing. If you said his car's paint job was ugly 10 years ago, he'd still remember! It was fresh in his mind. Secondly, he just made a great play deflecting a pass to a teammate on the one, and only, time they threw his direction proving his defensive prowess. As much as people want to dismiss it, every player on that field is pretty much talking trash. Heck, Tom Brady is one of the biggest talkers in the league. It's just not something you associate with him because when the cameras are in front of him, he's much more PC.

So, what everybody is mad about is the fact that he did it in front of a camera. When I pick friends, I would rather have someone that tells me how it is instead of someone who'll act one way in front of me and another in front of a camera. Let's not kid ourselves. Would he have the same level of fame if he stood behind a camera and said, "that's a great team we faced, and I want to congratulate them on their efforts?" Probably not, and frankly I don't want to be around that kind of guy. Sure, he could have taken it down one notch and Erin Andrews would have been much more comfortable, but that was the raw, unadulterated, emotion that poured out. It doesn't take anything away from how nice, genuine, funny, and caring this guy is. It just means that the term "classy" is now a term for how well you can fake your emotions in front of a rolling camera."
