Steal, your owners wanted to sell. The intention was to move the team to Seattle all along because you guys will not build an arena for them. When the Sonics were sold we were told the intention was to stay in Seattle, while they were behind closed doors already trying to move the team. The fans got screwed here buddy. Our owners, and lawmakers screwed us. Guess what idiot, that arena deal in Sacramento is still in jeopardy. We were screwed by bad ownership, much like Sacramento almost was. The fans had nothing to do with that. Just as it would have been in Sacramento. Then one guy throws popcorn and now all Seattle fans suck or are "dickheads and douchebags"? Perspective is not your stong-suit.

Shame Us: Sherman's was not really that bad, but it was bad. Rooting for a team does not mean I have to rationalize everything a player on that team does or says. What Richard Sherman said has no bearing on me personally. I don't need to sit here and defend him being a jackass in order to continue being a Seahawks fan.

And I wouldn't have to be a Seahawks fan to defend Richard Sherman. Look, we can't have everyone out there acting like that, but we can't have everyone out there being Russell Wilson. Some people love the choir-boy type stuff and never saying anything bad, some people like a guy who mixes it up. I like both - you need to have a balance, and sports are better when there's genuine dislike between players and teams.

A thing we should really be talking about is how "Class" requires you to say things you don't really believe if you're a certain type of person - which is lying, at least emotionally. We want people out here lying all the time so we can pretend that the NFL is this happy wonderful land where everyone is bestest pals and no one swears and no one takes PEDs (except the Seahawks, of course). Who cares that Crabtree cut the normal healing time for an Achilles tear in half? Totes normal. Ray Lewis takes "deer antler spray." Okay. Every NFL player is just superhuman with recovery (except Percy Harvin).

Does anyone know why there aren't late hit flags thrown against everyone who jumps on a fumble pile after the whistle?

Every team does it, but it feels like it should be completely against the rules.

Dafatone: Shame Us: js34603: On the bright side Sherman's antics and your equally classless fans have really shifted attention away from the referees giving you that game. So you have that going for you.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.*breath* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAOIHOWHO;QNWU;UHBFOUWGHOU

I mean, I wouldn't phrase it that way, but the officiating was pretty shiat.

The Bowman fumble thing (worked out for the Niners I guess), that end of 1st half personal foul, the running not roughing the punter call (if you hit a punter's plant leg as he lands on it, that's gotta be roughing), two or three generous spots on Lynch runs right around the 1st down line (giving the 1st is one thing, but not even calling for a measurement or giving harbaugh a chance to challenge is rough), etc.

I don't want to get into "the game would have ended differently if..." because who knows.

I'd scratch the Bowman fumble.  The refs never blew the whistle, and if they had, it wouldn't have been reviewable anyone.  The Seahawks reacted well to get the ball before the whistle blew.  Sucks for Bowman, but like you said, the 49ers ended up better for it.

The roughing the punter was very borderline, and I think the refs overlooked it because Maragos was on the ground and prone, obviously doing everything he could to avoid the punter.  It could have gone either way, but it would be a OHMIGOD LET'S CALL IT TOUCH FOOTBALL controversy if it had gone the other way.

I did notice that Lynch got a big spot early in the game (seven or eight yard run), but that was it.  He does a good job of extending the ball over his head when he comes down (which has also caused some fumbles).

And, again, on the Seattle side, the bizarre holding penalty against Seattle, the OPI on Crabtree at one point, and the clear hold on the 49ers during Kaep's big run were all weird calls or non-calls.  To me, it evened out, as none of them directly affected a scoring play.  We can talk about how something could have happened afterwards, etc., etc.

This is the standard we have for refs in the NFL:  let's hope they only fark up the small stuff, all the better.  Keep that in mind and you'll be able to sleep at night.

I do see and agree with some of the points both you and CF have made, but for you to say "it's just a football game" is laughable.

A few months ago on your other Fark handle you were still whining about SB XL.   Now that the Seahawks got some incorrect calls in your favor, it's "just a football game."

Believe me, if Terry MacAuley makes an incorrect call in the SB in a couple of weeks, everyone knows that you and everyone else will be whining.

Whining and discussing are two separate things. I haven't claimed that the outcome of that game was changed. It is widely acknowledged that mistakes were made. Acknowledging that and saying that the Seahawks were robbed is not the same thing. The Seahawks lost that game. Plain and simple.

Ummm...I would think that by definition, a cheap shot would be an attempt to injure someone.  I can't think of many players who would say, hey, I'm gonna totally cheap shot that guy and watch him bounce right back up!  YES!

While, on the other hand, almost any time a player gets injured, it's a cheap shot.  See the helmet hit on Harvin against the Saints.

Yet, anyone with a link of sentient intelligence would be smart enough to know that if they take a 200 lb man running past them and stick an elbow out, he's going to bounce right back up.

And no, players get injured from legitimate hits all of the time. Hell, players get injured walking across their living rooms...

The holding they're referring to was called on Giacomini and on the replay it was obvious that the Niner's D-Lineman tripped on his own feet or something. He went to the ground of his own accord. The holding call Sherman ws legit. I agree that it should have been roughing the punter and had that been Ryan instead of Lee, I'd have been pissed too. The ref's f*cked up the Bowman play, but that actually helped the Niners in the end. All in all, none of them directly influenced the scoreboard and none of them were any worse than calls made in any game all season long. Of course, everything is magnified because it's the NFC Championship game.

You have correctly utilized the words "players" and "teams."  There is genuine dislike between "players," not "people."  So you trash talk the player, not the person.  When the game is over, you put it behind you because it's a farking game.  If during the course of a game, RIchard Sherman feels the desire to inform the opposing wide receiver about the promiscuity of his grandmother, great.  But once the game is over, it's time to put it away.

What's dumb about this? You failed to keep your team, we didn't. Your fans actively tried to undermine our efforts (see all of sonicsrising.com) and failed. Add to that this incident with Bowman and it's plain to see Seattle and its fans suck.

We were screwed by bad ownership, much like Sacramento almost was. The fans had nothing to do with that. Just as it would have been in Sacramento. Then one guy throws popcorn and now all Seattle fans suck or are "dickheads and douchebags"? Perspective is not your stong-suit.

Please. He's a Sacramento fan. It's probably all he has.

JohnBigBootay: IAmRight: And I wouldn't have to be a Seahawks fan to defend Richard Sherman.

Maybe it's a generational thing. I can't abide a loudmouth whether they are on my team or not. As a steeler fan I cringed through many a james harrison comment. I guess I'm just from the barry sanders STFU and hand the ball to the ref school. My favorite players always talk the least. Like Lynch - he's no brain surgeon either but I admire his ability to STFU.

Even when it almost cost him a $50,000 fine by the league.  :-)

The city tried to steal Sacramento's basketball team. Buncha dickheads and douchebags the lot of `em. Hope the Seahawks get crushed in the Smoke a Bowl.

So not only did they sell the tea to local owners, your city might still not build the arena. You guys might be screwed!

The Maloofs never told Sacramento the team was for sale. They tried to sell it in secret, which Seattle was happy to help with. So yeah, f*ck Seattle.

Somehow a million or so people were invilved in the sale? Get a grip, man.

Dumbass!!!! The fans had nothing to do with this situation Seattle or Sacramento. You are a farking idiot.

Again, visit sonicsrising.com and go read thru the threads during the near move. Seattle fans had a LOT to do with it. In fact, they handily spell it out online for you to read. Not to mention sonics fan Chris Hansen gave $100,000 to an anti-arena group in Sacramento AFTER the NBA already told Seattle no.

Moron, its the internet. people can say what they want including you! That doesnt make it a fact. The only players in this are the people shelling out the $$$ which certainly isnt the fans.

Hansen did whatever he wanted to broker a deal, how does Mentallo69 or any other Seattle fan have any influence on that. Just stop, your digging deeper in that hole of yours.

My two cents:

Remember Bart Scott's "CAN'T WAIT!" moment?

I farking loved that....and that's coming from somebody who is indifferent when it comes to the Jets.

Shame Us: Dafatone: I can't quite scratch the Bowman fumble. Yeah, it was non-reviewable, but Bowman was down with possession of the ball. He recovered it. Seattle getting the ball for a 4th down was the wrong call, review or not.

As to the holding on Seattle, do you mean the defensive one? That was legit but I remember an o-line holding that was less so. The punt, to me, wasn't borderline. Hitting a guy in his plant leg is a very very easy way to hurt a punter. And it wasn't like it was well after the kick; it was as he landed. Lee limped off. Hell, the Niners couldn't even accept the penalty because they were iffy about running their limping punter back out there.

They generally went with a "let them play" sort of attitude with PI. Crabtree (and I think Boldin too) definitely pushed off, but by the end of the game, so had pretty much everyone.

I can't remember the last time the announcers pointed out three separate times they thought the refs made a mistake. And that's Aikman, who has to hate the Niners.

I don't really see how you can say a play that should have been a change in possession (or, I guess, a lack of change in possession.  I mean the punter roughing) didn't influence the score.  Like, maybe the Seahawks didn't score on that possession (I thought they did but I could have it wrong) but everything kinda changes from there.

That being said, I'm not trying to get all "the refs gave the game to Seattle" or anything.  Hell of a game, well fought on both sides.  I'm not even particularlly pissed at Sherman.  If you're as good as he is, you get to run your mouth.  You just have to back it up, which he does.

I'm hoping that was sarcastic, yeah.  Otherwise -

Good lord some of our sportsradio personalities are insufferable homers. That doesn't really make Seattle any different that anywhere else, but it is f*cking ridiculous and delusional sometimes.

Dafatone: mentallo69: If someone threw food on a player being carted off the field..........then fark you.

As for Bowman, I wish you a speedy recovery. I felt horrible they kept showing the replay. I figured his family must be watching,

As much as I hate the 49ers you guys were 20 seconds from taking the game away from us.

I respect the 49ers a lot more today than I did yesterday. That was a great game.

As a Niners fan who is still crushed, I'm glad the game was worthy of the best division in football.

Next year, the Niners get the slightly easier schedule of being in 2nd (at least in theory), and maybe we can host the rematch.

Just not at Candlestick. I don;t think you will have the great home field advantage if by happenstance you win the opportunity.
