(Bleacher Report)   One Seahawks fan possibly could have thrown around ten pieces of popcorn down on Navarro Bowman as he was carted off the field. This naturally means all Seahawks fans are the worst people ever and that Peyton Manning will be on Mount Rushmore   ( bleacherreport.com) divider line

Mikey1969: lennavan: So something got spilled over a railing exactly at the same time a 49er was being carted off the field?  Suggesting this was probably an accident is about as stupid as suggesting the actions of a single fan reflect on all Seahawks fans everywhere.

You really are as stupid as I thought. Jackhole Jones sets his popcorn down, 20 minutes later, this dude gets wheeled by, Jackhole Jones stands up to see(Or someone totally unrelated to the Jackhole family), and they kick the popcorn while leaning over the railing to ogle the injured player.

OH MY STARS AND GARTERS!!! ACCIDENTS REALLY DO HAPPEN!!

Seriously, it doesn't take a genius to see how this could be totally incidental. Hell, that took me all of about a second and a half.

Incidentally, had the popcorn spilled a second and a half before or after he was being carted by, it would have missed.

But you're probably right.

Have you seen him in interviews? He's actually really eloquent and very intelligent. And he says some interesting things instead of canned responses. And he always wears these audacious giant bow ties. He's going to be a stud of a color analyst when he gets out of football.

You do realize what people say in moments of adrenaline and what they say later are the result of two different mentalities.

Nevermind that Sherman graduated #2 in his high school and is a Graduate of Stanford.  Stanford.....they do not exactly graduate idiots at Stanford

He sure sounded eloquent.. Of course, he had no idea that a microphone was in his face, right?

whizbangthedirtfarmer: Killer Cars: Christ, if Sherman really pisses you off, you need to get over yourself. As a Pats fan, I was angry at Sherman for .002 seconds for confronting Brady after the game last season until I realized "you know what? I know Brady will talk smack too, and Sherm backed his up. Who cares". In fact, by Monday I was laughing about it.

Seriously, turn off the TV and just watch Disney movies for awhile.

As for the popcorn, fark whomever did it.

Oh, but Brady just said (on PFT) that the Pats "win with class."  Bullshiat.  Bullshiat.  Bullshiat.  There's just not enough times I can type that.  I don't think I've seen Brady win (or lose) with class for a few years now.  He was an absolute cock in the undefeated season, but he got a free pass.

I don't know... He seemed to handle losing yesterday OK. he pouted on the sidelines, but that was about it. I recall no instances of Offensive Whining, which is an improvement.

Last night after the game Crabtree was asked about the whole thing with Sherman and made the claim that Sherman had been quiet all night until that play. Well...yeah - they only threw his way twice. Great corners don't get thrown at - it's kind of the point.

See, the Pats do "win with class" in the sense they'll float clichés and be deferential to the media. But, they're just as guilty of trash talk and a whole bunch of garbage as anyone else during the game. I like Edelman as a player, for instance, but that dude always says something to the nearest defender after a nice gain. But, he's a short white dude so he's "scrappy". They're still my team, but I can be honest.

Sherman's a self-promoter and a loudmouth, sure, but at least he doesn't pretend to be anyone else.

2014-01-20 02:19:08 PM

Digitalstrange: well that and the fact that they are still defending Sherman's asshole antics, not to mention they were whining about their last Superbowl loss for over a decade leads me to Subby's conclusion about them, even if I don't agree about Manning.

First off, nobody is particularly defending Sherman. He shouldn't have made the choking gesture, and he shouldn't have made the negative comments about Crabtree, we all agree that was not a very classy thing to do. Nobody is disputing any of that. We are just saying it wasn't as bad as people seem to be making it out to be. People in the NFL talk trash constantly. Just because most of them don't do it in front of the cameras doesn't meant it doesn't happen. Besides, the entire thing is a mix of a little of Sherman's natural adrenaline high after that play and a lot of his master plan to become one of the few nationally famous defensive players ever in the history of the NFL. It is working too....  Sherman genuinely earned his way intoStanford and genuinely earned a degree using above average native intelligence and a ridiculous work ethic. He is a smart guy, and he is playing the entire national press, and you, like Yo-Yo Ma playing a Cello. Everyone in the nation with at least a passing interest in football knows who he is and is talking about him, yet most of those people would behard pressed to name 3 other defensive players not on their favorite team. Basically he is trying to pull a Dennis Rodman.. Rodman became internationally famous thanks to similar behavior despite similarly being the best at a non-glamorous specialty (rebounds) in his sport. Sherman is following in his footsteps, and so far you are all playing into his hands.

Second, you don't have a tiny pile of shiat to stand on until you man up and admit Crabtree was at least as much of a douche as Sherman.... More so actually because what he did was an actual physical foul, not just a non-harmful gesture and some comments to the press. Hitting someone in the face after the play is over is about as douche-tastic as it gets.Once you call Crabtree out about that AS WELL, then we can have a fair discussion.

It's a good thing there was only a small bit of popcorn left, about a handful's worth and that while the popcorn ended up flying a pretty decent distance, the bag and/or tub didn't get knocked down as well.

As a Seahawks fan, I must say that was an ugly game. A couple calls in Seattle's favor that should not have been missed. I don't think they were game-changers, but still bad to see. I had to turn away for all the replays too.

I couldn't agree more, especially given the stakes on the line.  I love that it came down to the last drive of the game and since I was rooting for the Seahwaks, I'm glad the Seahawks defense was on the field for it.  That was much preferable to Russel Wilson having to drive down the field on the last drive.

Getting in someone's face immediately after winning in a super-contested hate filled rivalry and going "hey hey shake my hand shake my hand we're cool now right what you're mad why are you mad I did nothing wrong!" is a pretty obvious dick move / attempt to rub it in.

You can talk as long as you back it up.  Not knocking Sherman, just saying "but he tried to shake Crabtree's hand!" is missing the point.

Is it that hard to admit that not everyone who spills a container of popcorn does so with a completely full jumbo sized tub, and then makes sure to throw the empty container on top of the pile?

No, it's not hard for me to conceive of that. What it's hard to do is CONVICT BASED ON NO EVIDENCE. Seriously, there's nothing here. Popcorn falls, there is NO context to show where it comes FROM, so you have nothing. Yeah, I've seen small amounts of things get spilled, and I've seen the container either not fall with them, or end up in a totally different direction. I've also seen people dump shiat on people they don't like. They don't usually "sprinkle" their distaste and low class.

I agree, thats how I knew Seattle would win. I told my friend all we have to do is contain Gore. Because Kaepernick cannot beat you with his arm with our secondary. Any other team, yes.

SF is the second best team in the NFL. If you guy's won I think you would beat the Broncos. I believe that Seattle and SF are the best two teams in the NFL.
I hate to give the 49ers props, but that was a god damn good game and they could have beat us.

As for Bowman, I wish you a speedy recovery. I felt horrible they kept showing the replay. I figured his family must be watching,

As much as I hate the 49ers you guys were 20 seconds from taking the game away from us.

I respect the 49ers a lot more today than I did yesterday. That was a great game.

As a Niners fan who is still crushed, I'm glad the game was worthy of the best division in football.

Next year, the Niners get the slightly easier schedule of being in 2nd (at least in theory), and maybe we can host the rematch.

I just heard it was an ACL tear on Bowman...I'm so happy it wasn't a career ending broken leg. He will be back

The real crime here is them showing the replay over and over again. The guy had a family watching.

Great game 49er fans. Kaepernick has some growing to do, but he is a terrific player that I fear as an adversary.

Kap has one real flaw.  He's not great at passes that require touch/arc/loft or whatever.  Such as fade routes.  Kinda like the passes the Niners have lost on the last two postseasons.

Well I guess that is what practice is for, I hope.

Yes, what amuses me about the Sherman "controversy" is that all sorts of people are saying it was classless, etc., etc.  Well, what about Fox's endless replays of a really great player suffering a potentially career-altering injury?  What about forcing viewers to watch it over and over again, with some of those viewers quite possibly Bowman's friends and family?

THAT is classless, not a guy who gave a ten second statement at the end of a hotly contested game.

Yeah, actually both things are classless. Nice try though.

Mikey1969: Meh, getting "decked" by someone in street clothes while he's in pads and a helmet, cheap shot it may be, but I'm sure he'll survive. He;;, whoever clotheslined him is probably suffering more injuries than he did.

Yeah, you're right. Certainly, illegally trying to decapitate a player on the sideline during a play certainly doesn't deserve the classless tag.

A: "Decapitate"? Hyperbole much?
B: Maybe you missed the part where I called it a cheap shot. Yeah, I'm sure you did because the word "decapitate" gave you such a giant boner that it blocked out the screen.

Well, then, feel free to say that whoever the 49ers player was is classless as well.  And I would argue that Sherman ranting after a game didn't really carry the potential to hurt anyone, unlike an elbow to the face at full speed.

\lessee, you'll say HE HAD ON A FACEMASK!
\\and then I'll say: what happens to the body when your face hits a solid object at full speed?  You go down, hard.

Mikey1969: No, it's not hard for me to conceive of that. What it's hard to do is CONVICT BASED ON NO EVIDENCE

You do realize there's a video showing it actually happening with an accompanying journalist account of what happened that you don't see in the video, right?  I mean, on Fark.com if you click the headline, it takes you to these sorts of things.  You might be missing out on a lot of things if you spend time here.

@greggrosenthal Did you see this first hand or are you reporting what was said on the internet?

@FullMetalMikey We watched on the clean network feed at NFL Network. You see the cameras that aren't necessarily shown on TV

Now Gregg Rosenthal is in on the conspiracy!

Oh boy, look at this thread. You think it's tough defending your team and fans now, Seattle? See what happens if you win this thing. There's people sh*tting on Boston in this thread and it has absolutely nothing to do with Boston. That's when you'll know things are great.

Ishkur: detroitdoesntsuckthatbad: The quote from Richard Sherman was very eloquent and well said.  No doubt it was written by the same guy who was interviewed by Erin Andrews last night.

Have you seen him in interviews? He's actually really eloquent and very intelligent. And he says some interesting things instead of canned responses. And he always wears these audacious giant bow ties. He's going to be a stud of a color analyst when he gets out of football.

Was that the guy from the Wazzu game vs Stanford?

Because I was at that game as I am a Wazzu alum, and that shiat was funny.

The popcorn, not the game. The game was embarrassing, unlike our bowl game which was ridiculously devastating.
