Hello? Could someone get me the Irony police please?

"Credibility and trust are our key commodity," Obermair told the newspaper

I'm pretty sure you're using "are" in the wrong verb tense. Try "were"

You know it's going to be a bad day when the boss finds out you've been faking votes.

Are you implying that the new Camaro isn't really better than an M6?

Ridiculous....

You mean the People's Car is not the people's favorite car?

The Obvious tag, ironically, was not used. Maybe that's why this is "ironic".

2014-01-20 09:51:22 AM
Usually I'm here to ironically make fun of the irony police, but in this case perhaps the tag was chosen by accident?

Subby, it's spelled "favorite."

In a country that makes BMW, yeah the Golf is the favorite car. Totes ironic lol.

I found out the hard way that BMW stands for "Buy More Wrenches" .   As in "you're going to spend a lot of time and money repairing this".
Sure, they're nice and tight when they're new.  Put a few miles on one..  The shiat doesn't last.   I'll take the Camaro

actually the GTI is a brilliant car. dont own one but I'd like to.

I first read subby's headline as "...top motorboating association."

cgraves67: You mean the People's Car is not the people's favorite car?

It's not entirely clear form the article. I'm not sure if they're saying that *only* the VW's votes were increased or if the total number of votes was, and that each car's votes were increased by the same factor.

The first possible scenario would be:

VW Golf 3000 actual, 30000 counted
Other car 2500 actual, 25000 counted
Another car 2000 actual, 20000 counted

In that scenario, the Golf wins either way, but ADAC seems much more important. I mean hey, look 75000 people voted in their contest!

The other scenario would be:

VW Golf 3000 actual, 30000 counted
Other car 25000 actual, 25000 counted
Another car 20000 actual, 20000 counted

If it's this one, then yes ADAC is fickten proper.

Things always loosen up after you've ridden it for a while. That's why I always get rid of the old ride after a couple of years and get a newer model. Tight ride, no blemishes on the body, smooth, exciting, no obnoxious noises or exhaust problems.

Same goes for cars.

I'd would have liked to have been a fly on the wall during a few of the Triple J Hottest 100 counts.

[ It's one of the country's most prestigious annual "best songs" lists, definitely most prestigious annual "best songs" list for the YOOF demographic. Voted by the PEEPLE, too. ]

Back in the 1990s when they accepted all sorts of weird and wonderful voting formats....

There would have been lots of temptation for record companies to *ahem* mobilize their voting blocs.

And lots of power in just a few hands when it came to collating everything. Lots of temptation to tweak things. It is an extremely pro-Australian station when it comes to playlists and "unearthing" artists and album and band promos etc [not in an underhanded way, JJJ is loud and proud about it].

Another level is that there would be lots of COVETING and station politics over being anointed one of the few Knowers of the Tally. Pushy office assholes rise to the top in these types of things, so I'm guessing there were a few powerful vote-collating assholes over the years with all sorts of ego issues..

i44.tinypic.com

I still remember Denis Leary's acceptance blurb. It was half "WTF I won this thing?" and half "damn you Aussie's are a weird mob." Meant in a nice way. I think.

Just hit me with your best shot. I'm pretty much perfect. I was captain of the football team, and starter on my basketball team. What sports do you play, other than "jack off to naked drawn Japanese people"?

I also get straight A's, and have a banging hot girlfriend (She just blew me; Sh!at was SO cash).

You're thinking Mercedes. Mercedes is German for: 'We cram a lot of crazy tech in our cars even though it doesn't work right yet.' All the fancy shiat breaks constantly so that you can always find a low mileage Mercedes. They're all sitting in the shop so much, they can't really put miles on the odometer.

That, or they forget to turn it on. Kind of like when they did their auto stop cruise test and it rear ended the other car. 'Zee, it stupped.'

CSB Time:

Friend of mine bought a new Mercedes last year. The A/C broke about a month into ownership. 6wks later they had To give him a new car because they were unable to get the A/C. Every part was swapped...no worky. Weird.

Look. If it involves humans and voting, the result is always a lie. Every single time. That's the way voting works for humans. They don't really "get" it.

The Golf is raved over by most of the Aussie motoring sites, to the point where people have been speculating for some time that there's an ulterior reason behind it. Not sure this helps the argument that there isn't some kind of trickery involved.
