Peyton Manning's foundation for at-risk youth will receive a $24,800 donation for all the times he shouted "Omaha!" during the AFC championship game Sunday.

THANKS OMAHA!

$24K more than they had.  What is wrong with people today? Raise money for charity and then some douche biatches about the amount?

Never a bad excuse to give some funds to a charity. Good on those Nebraskan companies, good for Peyton Manning's foundation.

Leader O'Cola: Uh, that math doesn't seem to add up

I too thought it was low, but maybe it only counts "per play". So when he yells Omaha! seven times before one snap, that only counts as one. The Broncos had 71 offensive plays (which includes punts and field goals, with no Manning on the field), so that would be slightly less than half the snaps had an Omaha call?

I'm fairly certain I heard a "BATMAN" in there at one point.

I read the headline as each donated 800. Apparently they each donated 100. Only way to make the math work.

I know you want to me to say Eli, but you're wrong. Namath is the one who doesn't belong. Lifetime QB rating of 65.5. To compare, Tim Tebow's lifetime rating is 75.3.

Eli.

Also, where the fark is Brett Favre, Warren Moon and Dan Marino?

....ehhhhhh, on second thought, maybe I ought not be comparing QB ratings from Namath's day to QB ratings now. Maybe he's not a Tim Tebow, but he's more along an Andy Dalton.

Plus. he was only in one Super Bowl.... IMO that list should have been limited to players in multiple Super Bowls with at least 1 win.... ie, why isn't Kurt Warner an option?

In win percentage, yes.  The postseason stats for their individual work is actually more in Peyton's favor - yards, yards per catch, QBR, PR, interceptions per attempt.  Eli has the edge in interceptions per game, but had more runs to back him up than Peyton, thus fewer pass attempts.  I'm not bagging on Eli, but the idea he's a better postseason quarterback isn't held up numerically.  He's been more successful, but not due to his effort.

hell, if I had to choose one qb for one Super Bowl on some ultimate team, it would be Kurt Warner.  Best pure reactive and tempo passer the game has seen, but lost half his career to a nasty hand injury and bad teams.  His post season and Super Bowl stats speak for themselves

I think his "down time" between St. Louis and Arizona hurts him there.  You look at his record, he 5 "quality" seasons (first 3 in St. Louis, and last two in Arizona).   Although you could argue he got screwed with the Giants a bit, since they pulled him with a 5-4 record.

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WarnKu00.htm .... also you look at players considered "similar" to him, it isn't a glowing list really.

But, just saying, he belongs on a "Top 10 Super Bowl" QBs more than Namath for sure.   But, this is the NY Daily News, so, par for the course, east coast bias crap.

Eli has 2 MVPs because of 2 stupid throws and 2 amazing catches.

Honestly, those balls get dropped because of how normally uncatchable they are (how many times have you seen a guy catch a ball against his helmet?) or picked off because they were tossed up down the middle of the field like an arm punt, and he's the worst QB to ever play in the Super Bowl because he Romo'd two game winning drives.

But those throws did win the games. Contrast to Brady, who never needed a game winning touchdown drive in the Super Bowls his team won and who hasn't won a Super Bowl since Dagron Brady appeared in 07 or so.  Brady hasn't won a Super Bowl since the team shouldered him with responsibility for victory after the defense and special teams dropped off from what they were

My argument was, it wasn't the THROWS but the CATCHES that won the games.  QB hits a receiver in stride, right in the hands, THAT'S a game winning throw.

Look at Montana to Clark, that's not called The Catch because Montana made a great throw.

Manning simply arm punted 2 balls and had amazing plays made by receivers.  How he gets credit is mind boggling.
