I wonder if this could be used to help fishing in shallow clear water, hunting or trapping.

When my spaniel was a puppy, one day I tried this for her. She chased the fark outta that red dot, then I gave her a treat. Now, after every freaking meal, she hauls butt straight back to me, tail wagging, eyes all crazy. Then she spins around a few times, demanding we do it again. Its hilarious. And great entertainment at parties. Then she gets the treat and is fine. But she freaks the fark out if someone forgets. I got scared when my 99 cent stores stopped carrying the lasers, but found them at another chain.

Best. Dog toy. Ever.

One of my clients designs under and above water LED lighting for boats. Though he doesn't do anything with laser lights (yet), there is absolutely an application for using lights to attract and catch fish. His previous life was designing light sources for spectroscopy systems, so he might find the video somewhat interesting. I'll have to pass it along.

Note: Is it okay to feel at least slightly bad for the animals? They never get to catch the cool toy.  :-(

I felt badly for the cat that climbed the wall. I thought that kind of dedication deserved a reward.

A small chunk of tuna might have been in order, yes.

i have a 65 lb german shepherd and she loves to chase the laser or a flashlight at night when i take her out in the backyard. we turn off the lights and she runs rings around the backyard chasing it. the four corners of my yard are now banked from her hitting them and sliding the grass and dirt up for speed.

she is almost all black and you can barely see any part of her but...you can hear her. she sounds like a freight train. i've had my mother in law in the back yard and told her not to move or get in the path. i made that mistake once...

2 things to help with that.

1, Step on it to show you can catch it, or snatch it in your hand. Drives them nuts.

2. Put down a treat somewhere out of the way, and when you are done playing with them put it on the treat and let them eat it.

Taking a sniff detection class with my dog right now. She isn't really food motivated so the instructor asked me to bring in her absolute favorite toy (which is the laser pointer). She loves the sniff/search game, but as soon as the instructor told me to reward her for finding the target by using the laser that was the end of it for the night. She became totally focused on whoever was holding the laser, ignoring all other training/commands/people.

/Stubborn little biatch.
