The problem just may be that not as many people as they think consider being relentlessly negative assholes a value

Those aren't apt examples, because they imply the original headline implies that the tea party considers hispanics people.

Bloody William: Those aren't apt examples, because they imply the original headline implies that the tea party considers hispanics people.

You need to know the Tea Party syllogism

Women and minorities (racial and/or religious) are human if they go into the voting booth on Tuesday and vote for the extreme right
None of these will do this, because they're whores/prudes/brown people/anchor babies/too lazy/too 'elitist'/potential terrorists
Therefore, women and minorities are not human

2014-01-19 10:36:37 AM
I'm fairly certain that was their plan from day one.

2014-01-19 10:54:01 AM
FTFA: "I told her I was going to tell her what the tea party stood for and then ask which ones she did not agree with. I said, limited government, national security, in God we trust, lower taxation, control the borders," He continued. "I went down the list one by one and then, when I was finished, I said tell me in your heart that you do not believe in anything I had just said. She couldn't say a single word, so I said that seems to indicate that you agree, and if you don't agree you shouldn't be living in this country."

Oh, you vomited out some random words that you know and the lady you were babbling them to didn't have a response to your insanity so that must mean she agrees with you.  Awesome outreach.  Here are some things that I like:  coffee, tires on my car, the color green, pancakes and the Charlie Brown Christmas special.  Tell me in your heart that you do not believe in anything that I just said.  Aha!  I hear no response, so you are clearly a liberal now!  Welcome, comrade.

What a loony bunch of loons. I hope their party self-destructs and cannibalizes itself in a self-perpetuating derpstorm.

I admit I skimmed the article, but I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing.  As the TP and the GOP accept that they have to expand beyond the "angry white guy", they will also have to adjust their agenda because adding groups of people gives them a voice.  Inclusion will always lead to moderation, if it's a real inclusive effort.

My fear is that they will fall into symbol over substance like they did with Mia Love and Michael Steele (look, we have black people too!)

while Hispanics do vote Democrat in elections, the reasons have nothing to with Republicans' stance on conservative issues, but is rather a failure of tea party activists and conservatives to actively educate Hispanics and Latinos about what they actually stand for.

A small tax on the wealthiest Americans represents the most evil communist conspiracy since Stalinist pogroms.

How is this the "new plan"? Real 'muricans have been telling everyone to LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT for the past 12 years, since September 11, 2001.

Don't support the war in Iraq? Go live with your Dhimmicrat friends in Pakistan and Afghanistan, you John Walkers.
Don't support the patriot act? GTFO and go somewhere else!
Gay marriage? That's satanic communist talk. Get outta mah country!

PC LOAD LETTER: You mean they are gonna whitesplain how America works to them?

One of the funniest things to come out of politics lately was RAND PAUL, in his self-appointed role as Party Intellectual, trying to tell a group of students at Howard University how the Republican Party always did more to help black people than the Democratic Party had, and getting just laughed out of there.

Good times indeed. Nothing beats telling someone you hated for years that you were really on their side the whole time and that what you did was "good for them" or something.

fta "We don't have media representation, everyone knows that, and when you go to the Hispanic media it's even worse," Torres said.

I fully encourage Fox News en Español to whitesplain to Hispanic voters how self-deportation, cuts to public education, cuts to social services, voter suppression, and restricted access to healthcare are a benefit to them and their families. Please be sure to call people they probably know "illegals", too. They love that.

Members attending the South Carolina Tea Party's annual convention were told contrary to popularteabagger belief Hispanics do not want to embrace socialism

Wow, they actually said that.  They seriously said that if the Hispanics don't like their beliefs, that they should get out of America.

That's some solid outreach there, Lou.

2014-01-19 01:37:18 PM
Family values like barring a same-sex couple from marrying each other while celebrating an opposite-sex couple that marries each other for 72 days.

Family values like letting a man visit his wife while she has cancer just to dump her and marry a girl who doesn't have cancer while condemning the same-sex couple that has been together for forty years and banning them from visiting their partner's hospital room.

Family values like letting an opposite-sex couple throw their child out of their home after they failed to be straight while a same-sex couple can't even adopt a kid.

Those kinds of family values?

2014-01-19 01:37:43 PM
You would think the party of family values would want immigration reform. Since it is about FAMILIES.

It's been since at least the late 60's and early 70's from the right against anti-Vietnam war protestors.

It is true that Hispanic voters have a largely Catholic culture and that aligns with Conservative values. But the 'Spics are too smart to let the fact that the Conservatives slam immigrants and the poor, pass. Being poor, of course, is a natural result of being an immigrant, legal or otherwise, as one finds it terribly hard to compete with the natives.

The Republicans are better off trying to hoodwink the honkies, they're the ones stupid enough to believe the bullshiat.

The irony here is that I would wager the majority of the white, rural and suburban folks that make up the TEA party are descendants of 1) indentured servants that came over during the Colonial period, 2) poor, uneducated European tenant farmers, laborers, or even serfs (Eastern European), or 3) merchant or middle class Western Europeans whose entire qualifications and legal barriers to immigration consisted of enough funds for a passage over and being healthy enough to avoid quarantine on arrival.

Most of the immigrants that I know, from both South and Central America and Canada, are hard working, pragmatic, and conservative (financially, socially, and in their religion).  If the TEA GOP would allow it, they would gladly pay a fine or a tax, submit to an exhaustive screening process, and accept a permanent resident alien status in lieu of citizenship.  They could then open bank accounts, obtain mortgages, establish businesses, send their children to college, etc.

It would be a triple win for the TEA GOP.  The immigration issue would be largely resolved, the newly minted resident aliens would be barred from voting for Democrats from the local Clerk of Court to the President, and the children of the new resident aliens would be much more likely to remain conservative and to vote a GOP ticket if they are able to obtain citizenship, themselves.

Then again, all of that would require long-term, strategic reasoning, which has proven time and again to be something the TEA GOP mind is utterly incapable of.

Sounds good to me. Do you really think the reason western civilization has been so successful, inventing everything from airplanes to antibiotics, is because they're WHITE?

No. As I've tried REPEATEDLY tried to explain to you bozos, IT'S THE CULTURE, STUPID! Nothing to do with Ethnicity or skin color.

The United States has been wildly successful because it brought in ambitious, risk taking immigrants, ASSIMULATED them into the common culture, so that everybody was working off the same page.

I DEMAND that immigrants adopt American culture. I don't want Mexican culture, with their easy acceptance of corruption, I don't want Islamic culture, with their pathological abuse of women, I don't want Indian culture, with their weird caste system, contaminating the mainstream culture that has brought America such widespread prosperity and freedom.

You people really need to give up the fetishism of "underdogs". We have this unhealthy tendency lately to champion the underdog, 'cause we feel sorry for them, regardless of what the underdog actually represents.

So yeah, you want to come here and enjoy the benefits of a stable and fair society? Play by OUR RULES, the ones that made us a desirable place to come to.

The business aspects of the GOP would love to do this.

However, the xenophobic social conservative aspects of the GOP would abandon the party in droves.  And there would be no guarantee that the GOP would gain enough new voters to replace the ones that they lost.

This perspective reminds me a lot of several Religious Missionaries I've known. Yes there may be some good missionaries who actually do good, but I'm  talking about the.young ones who may spend a month in a foreign land to help bring Jesus there.

1. They see their primary role as an exemplar of how good and well off it is to be an American Christian - what the natives should aspire to be.
2. They detest the local culture - food in particular - and will often retreat to mini imported worlds of their culture.
3. They detest the natives.

Often they arrive home with racial theories about why the natives can't or don't want to become just like them. Basically they have no downward empathy but expect upward empathy (idolization).

Damned straight.  All those other cultures suck.  We shouldn't discriminate due to caste or gender.

Everyone should do like we do and discriminate based on how rich you are.
