So it's 11:29 central time as I'm typing this. I'm gonna have to call this as not just early, not even really early, above and beyond crazy early, pushing the boundaries right into "what the fark, exactly, were you THINKING, subby" early.

So yeah. early.

On the radio tonight I heard the contest described as "forehead" versus "hothead".

Normally, this is where I make my hyperbolic, pseudo-insane prediction as to the outcome of today's games. But, for some reason, I don't feel compelled to act out in such a way.

MY team, the Denver Broncos, will play the New England Patriots for the AFC Championship and a trip to Jersey; winner-take-all, loser goes home. Yet, I don't feel anxious or nervous about what is yet to unfold. I feel... calm. At peace with myself and the decisions I've made in life up to this point.

I am aware that the possibility of defeat is quite high, given the foes before us are lead by Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Perhaps I am unphased by the professional, methodical way they play, or have grown used to it by now. For whatever reason, I feel no ill will, no want of personal damnation towards the Patriots or their fans. Their team has earned my respect, and on this day, it is my honor to have my team be the one to challenge them for the AFC Championship.

Though the Broncos may fall on this day, I can hold my head high, knowing they played the best the NFL has to offer. I sincerely wish the Patriots fans here good luck, and may the best team win. :-)

Fark your "central time". 12:01am ET is what's always been the established procedure. At least this way, everyone gets their goddamn ponies out of the way.

Sort of feel the same way, but I'm a Patriots fan. If I am being serious with myself, and this is probably because I pay too much attention to the national media, but I would rather the Patriots lose today then win today and lose the Super Bowl. Obviously I want them to win the Super Bowl, and obviously 6 AFC Champ wins, and 6 Super Bowl appearances is better than 5 AFC Wins in 8 appearances, and 5 Super Bowl appearances, BUT, all we'd hear about is how the Patriots lost 3 straight Super Bowls.

That's it.

I may be a Saints fan, but I have to root for the Seahawks today.  After the season they've had, they deserve a shot at the trophy.

As for Broncos-Pats, I'm neutral.  But, part of me thinks the Pats would be the (ever-so-slightly) easier team for the Hawks, due to their many injured players.

Either way, should be awesome games today!

Dont think so. Defensive war. First team to 20 wins.

I'm concerned, 'cause Brady was out sick earlier in the week, flu has been going around, and now he's in Denver, a mile up. If his lungs aren't in tippy top shape, he may run out of gas in the third quarter.

As a Bronco fan since the 70s, losing three in a row stings to the point where you initially wonder if it was worth it. Turns out it is, but it takes about a decade to reach that conclusion.

Try 4 in a row. Took me 14 years of playoff drought to really decide it was worth it.

It's gonna be in the 60s today in Denver. Look for Manning to throw for something like a billion TDs.

You gotta be kidding. Tom Brady barely breaks a sweat. He doesn't need gas, just bumper to bumper protection.

Rooting for the Pats and 49ers today because I'm an old-school Chiefs fan that remembers when Seattle was the Cleveland of the AFC West and the Broncos were breaking our spirit every year. Plus, I really like Jim Harbaugh.

By the way, I live five minutes from Metlife Stadium, so if your team wins and you want to stay in a drafty two-bedroom* house for an exorbitant fee, drop me a line.

Got snacks and beer ready and hoping that the Seahawks and Patriots end up victorious. I know that Manning deserves the win after the way the Broncos have played this season, but I think that the Patriots will be an easier victory for the Seahawks in the SB.

I predict Denver and Seattle victories today, leading to the NFL's first-ever Recreational Marijuana Bowl.
