Apparently they still charge for it. Audio book narrated by George Takei and Lenard Nemoy, Strangers from the sky (87').

'I heard a Cardassian named "Kim" is here at Sundance. And I thought I saw a Ferengi but it was just Gilbert Gottfried.'

~~George Takei, the erstwhile Captain Sulu from the original Star Trek,

I wonder what Kirk thinks of this?

I'd rather a documentary about his team of writers.

He was Captain of the Excelsior as of the last OS movie. Which is possibly my favorite performance in any movie ever.

Likewise, Kroot outlines Takei's explosive popularity, beginning in 2011, as a breakout Facebook star, but doesn't display the analytical savvy to examine the phenomenon.

I imagine that's because that isn't him on Facebook, but a comedian he hired to post funny stuff.

Takei is slowly becoming the new Betty White. An elderly, marginally talented celebrity who was popular several decades ago yet who is suddenly fashionable with hipsters for some reason.

I enjoy hearing him interviewed on podcasts, but he's really not as funny or witty as he's portrayed on social media.

His relatively new popularity might be partly attributed to his tireless championing of human rights on several fronts that are very personal to him and those who admire him.  Could be part of the reason, might not just be random hipster love.  Maybe.

He's a Star Trek actor who turned out to be in real life a goofy nerd with a sense of humour who spends too much time on the internet.

Sort of the original series version of  wil.

CSB moment.

My uncle was working a Sci-Fi Con waaaaay back in the day, when it was bigger. Takei was a guest at this convention. Uncle was selling Star Trek figures, including a Sulu one.

Well Takei walks up, picks up the Sulu figure, looks at Uncle, and says in a very serious voice...

"This does NOTlook like me."

... and then buys it and walks off.
