You still have 26 minutes before you can start working on getting ready of your Boobies. Just need some dedication to getting back in shape. Good luck, we are all hoping you succeed, fatty.

You said ready of instead of rid of. Therefore your post is nullified. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

Space frames as well.  Once he settled the patent lawsuits over the telephone, Bell was an exceptionally wealthy man.  He screwed around with all sorts of things that took his fancy, but never came up with anything else that made a major impact in his lifetime.

Of course, by the 60s, space frames were all the rage because of Buckminster Fuller, and now adays big buildings don't go up without some triangular space frame trusses.

"And the partnership that resulted was the one of the world's most enduring watercraft world speed records."

But we're not going to tell you how long it endured for... Not only that, we're going to bury the speed that "endured" for so long at the very end of the article.

Jalopnik is usually pretty cool, but this is edging into DailyFail type writing, just like they combined 2 of their articles together.

I knew that.

I'm Canadian and Canadians consider Bell one of our own although he was born in Scotland and immigrated to Nova Scotia when he was only three. His main telephone work was done in Brant, Ontario, with some done in the US after he sold out. Meh. He'd never have been anything if he only worked in Canada. The other guy who patented the telephone (on the same day just like a cartoon) would have been the American (or "real") inventor of the telephone.

Let's get real. A lot of people invented the telephone, television, fire, the wheel, etc.

Alexander Graham Bell's interest in the telephone was sparked by the problem of communications for the deaf because his mother was deaf and his father was a Professor and teacher of elocution. He was also a founding member of the National Geographic Society.

There's a small Bell Museum in Nova Scotia which we visited when I was a kid IIRC.

Some members of the Bell family still live or summer in Nova Scotia. One of the guys I knew when I was an undergrad was crew on one of the Bell family yachts during the summer.

I have a Bell in my family tree but the chance of adding Alexander G's clan is slim.

It's not really that small and it's definitely a worthwhile visit. Plus getting there means taking a trip to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia which rocks, so win-win.

Not as big as the phone, but I think his work with the deaf made some impressive breakthroughs.

I saw that museum this summer, but I must admit, I paid more attention to the hydrofoils.
