Can we finally decriminalize drugs and prostitution?  What a waste of time and money.

Goddammit, couldn't they have given him an intervention and sobered him up? Now they have trials and jails and will lose a personnel that was flawless otherwise.

How very appropriate that he was carrying a drug called "molly".

"Obvious" tag on paid leave or what?

I didn't know Grindr had an "in uniform" option.

farkin cops.   He'll get more sex in prison.  so, there's that.

And of course, because it happened with a site for gay men, I won't be surprised when someone tries to use this to make homosexuality illegal.

Is this the thread where I come to get told 'cops are people too and make mistakes like everyone else' and that we should 'give him a break?'

Yeah screw that.  I say any cop who breaks the law is automatically eligible for the death penalty.

Dang! You can bet if I lived in a town called Prairieville, I'd be doin' me some crazy-assed shiat, too. Either that, or I'd be a vomit-soaked drunk. Oh, wait......

No, it's the thread where I come in to gloat about being older than the perp but still have more hair.

He's not trolling. The 12 steps are a proven, reliable cure for this dreaded disease. He needs to get his '90 in 90' meetings, a sponsor and read his Big Book and look to God his Higher Power.  If he still refuses to submit to the program, HE'S failed the program.  If he's cured, then the program works!

Got it?

He's a cop, who has probably been involved in such sting operations like this at similar motels and he still went through with it.  The dumbest of the dumb.

Hopefully he finds plenty of sex in with the general population!!!!! (Not quite sure, but I've heard cops get separated from GP. Fark that, let them do time in GP like everyone else, especially now that they're civilians again!)

Yes. Can't have people paying money for sex ya know. Now if he'd shot and killed someone he'd just be on paid leave.

The guy was carrying TWO firearms?  Good Lord, what for?  The main weapon, the tazer & the radio for back-up calls wasn't enough?

"No, I'm just here to swap my drugs for your sex act."

Sounds like that could be a factual description of buying someone a drink at a bar.

THIS!!!!!!

Also, apparently he was quite a boon to the department and all around good guy who just happened to have a bit of a thing for illicit sex and access to substances with which to gift his partners

MSP officers created a profile on the website using information Strong "would particularly like," Klotz testified. Strong then contacted the officers, according to the testimony, suggesting a meet-up where Strong would bring drugs including ecstasy, marijuana, cocaine.

His job as a LEO is probably DOA. But a good lawyer could argue entrapment.

\Leaving cars running in bad neighborhoods and booking grindr dates involving party favors is not my idea of fighting crime. It may help the comstat number though.

The problem was exasperated by his wardrobe choice.

If he'd picked his American Indian chief, construction worker, soldier, biker, or cowboy costume to wear out that night, he'd gotten off lighter.

But no, he had to pick Cop.

Those aren't entrapment. Hate them all you want, but providing opportunity alone is not entrapment.

They redid some highway around here. Now it is so nice I have to drive 90. Entrapment!

FTFA: "Any loss of personnel is difficult," Thompson said. "We are now down to two reserve officers."

They'd rather deal with a dope cop in their ranks than clean house and learn to cop right. Just another gang, I'd think.

Why would I want to argue what entrapment is and isn't on fark with someone that smells like they live under a bridge?

Actually, this is more an issue of social injustice. If gay people weren't given shiat all the time, they wouldn't get so desperate as to try to procure and trade drugs for sex.
But you can't legislate folks into liking one another. It's gonna be a long road, and Mr. Strong is just one stone upon it.

I am pretty sure that if you are going to meet someone in hotel based on a hookup made in grindr, bringing illegal drugs to the deal is like buying a chick a couple of margaritas at a bar.

The only reason his job would be DOA in many police Depts. is because he's gay. Other than that, this is small potatoes compared to what some can do and still keep their gig.

Which is ironic when laws get passed infringing on their "rights." They seem okay with it when the police have to do it...

FTFA: ""It's disappointing," Thompson said. "He was very concerned about helping people and was a great communicator. It's all very shocking."

Thompson said Strong graduated from a reserve police academy in March and had risen to the top reserve officer of the three at the department. He excelled in administrative duties and budgeting and served as administrative officer to the chief, Thompson said.

"He helped us a lot with the grant application process," Thompson said.

Strong was also a firefighter and EMS worker for the township.

Thompson said Strong's absence will be a loss for the department. The township is now working to recruit reserve officers to help fill the void.

"Any loss of personnel is difficult," Thompson said. "We are now down to two reserve officers."

If there was any chance that he could have been sobered and rehabilitated for example SLAA and DA that would have been better than entrapment, trials, prison, and losing an otherwise very productive member of society. Maybe I have too much faith in humanity and its ability to reform and evolve. I know there are a lot of one strike and you're out people out there.

Give it time. The blue hairs that watch the local news are dying off. The police keep on pissing off more and more people with their stupid, aggressive, broken windows, zero-tolerance behavior.

In my future world in ten years, one of two things will happen. Either non-criminals start pulling dorners after their family members get murdered and can't get justice because of the blue line closing ranks. Limited funding forces them back into ugly yellow pac-man vehicles. That is the ugly version, the good version is where meaningful reform is passed and bad police are help liable for their actions and forced out of that path of employment. Then the good police can be good.

Either way something is going to break.

This is a lie. Trading drugs for sex is de reguier *within* the gay community itself. It has absolutely nothing to do with outside pressures or societal norms.
