I'm a little worried about Tuesday, as the PM is meeting with EU officials in Brussels.

His current advisor (Yigit) believes that people in the EU are trying to harm Erdogan through telekinesis.

There are numerous human rights violations by the current government (AKP) in the last 12 months alone. There is a bill that allows website blocking without a court order and mass surveillance of Internet users.
A child was discovered shot after having given birth..at age 13.
The AKP has frozen the personal assets of the major non-AKP contenders before the March elections.
CPR has been made illegal without explicit government approval.
AKP allowed in al-Qaeda terrorists without passports or trave documents.
After completely changing the judiciary, 45 arrest warrants have been withdrawn, INCLUDING the one to arrest Erdogan's son.

Traditionally the military would clean up civilian politics, but the EU says military intervention violates the fundamental right to be ruled by bureaucrats and should not happen again.

I heard about the journalists on the radio yesterday or the day before.  Many of them are foreign.  I'm really surprised there isn't more international pressure for them to clean-up their act.

well, there is a protest in about half an hour. Against the new Internet restrictions.

I can hear the drums from all the way on the other half of Istiklal Street.

I can see two TOMA (water cannon) from my window, and the cops are dangling gas masks.  It's nearly 6pm on a Saturday. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?  The place is crawling with tourists!

It's been so hard to see the brutality the government is using against protesters. Actually it's been hard to watch pretty much everything that's been going on in the past few years.

Stay safe and thank you for posting that video.

Weaver95: I would have gone with either Pennsylvania, Texas or Alabama but...yeah. Same thought as you.

I knew it wasn't Florida right away. There is no other state in the nation that would benefit more from top to bottom corruption probe than Florida. Both parties have their corrupt tentacles from the top to the grassroots level in every area, from the governor's office to the lowest civil service department. There isn't a damn thing in the whole state that isn't heavily influenced by corruption. There is no rule of law down here because corruption especially rules our court system. It is a wonder to me that anything runs at all.

Last year "ethics reform", the first in 30 years, was just a paper shuffling exercise by some phoney bozo to give his idiot son an edge in next years election.

I think you're at least partially joking, but there is a difference between taxation and taxation without representation.

Liberal?  I think you have your paranoid ideologies mixed up.  Hint: It's not the liberals who've been screeching about how the president and his party have staged a coup, are replacing everyone in power that they can with cronies, and are preparing to run rough-shod over everyone's rights any moment now.

She's also here a lot but short answer is no. Asylum to the US is pretty much limited to the former Soviet Bloc countries, Cuba, and some parts of Africa. It's insanely difficult to get for the most part. Germany is much easier along with Holland.
