Thank you for making Subby's point.

Hey thanks. This is exactly what I think of when I think of Texas. Violent and stupid.

bungle_jr: Penoatle: I am okay with this.

I am to the right but honestly could care less what people do.

I also love Texas, the politics are cool, guns are cool (when not used to blow out your fellow mans tender vittles), whataburger is cool. Texas is win-win.

someone always brings up whataburger in a tx discussion. i've heard kids at the airport say "we're in tx, let's eat at w-a-b!"

don't get me wrong, w-a-b is great, especially specialties like the chophouse cheddar burger [homersimpsondrool.jpg], but come on, we also have BRAUMS here!

You shut your whore mouth! Braums doesn't come close to comparing with Whataburger, and before you pop off about ice cream, you shove some Bluebell in your cake hole like God intended!

I like how the posters in the Boobies censors their (barely) profanities, but keeps the threats of violence.  Because, well we wouldn't want anyone to hear a bad word while be viciously assaulted!

2012 Presidential Election by County.....

[upload.wikimedia.org image 500x489]

Those blue islands are Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin and San Antonio (and then all of the counties near the Mexican border).   This just in.... heavily populated areas tend to be more Democratic than Republican.   Texas as a whole is still republican though because while those heavily populated areas might go 50-60% Democratic, the other parts of the state go 80-90+% GOP.

This just in.....areas heavily populated by groups of people suckling on the government tit tend to be more Democratic than Republican

/popcorn, I has it

I love how things to help low income people are "sucking the government tit", but, retirees using more SS and Medicare benefits than they put into the system are "Honest hardworking amerians".   Or large companies getting tax breaks aren't sucking the government tit because "Job creatorz!".

Like most states, the major population areas of Texas are at least purple.  Houston is blue.

What I've found is that most people who hate Texas really just hate people from rural areas, regardless of state, and Texas has a significant amount of rural areas.

If you're tired of Texas shiatting on America, drop $10 on Wendy Davis trying to keep Perry's getaway driver from being the next governor.

(The abortion filibuster was her /second/. Her first? Trying to stop a five-billion-plus cut to Texas' education budget.)

Thanks, Texas has already been invaded by people not from Texas.  The Mexicans are actually okay.  It's the people from California and Pennsylvania and New York which really annoy me.

Well, not anymore.  I left.  Now I annoy people in another state because I wasn't born here.  I don't miss the humidity in Texas...or the Yankees either.

Shall we do a little math, my dear Farkers?

Texas population: About 26.5 million

Top 10 largest cities: 8.2 million

Top 10 largest cities + metro areas: 18.6 million

Top 10 largest cities by corresponding county's 2012 Presidential results:

Houston = Harris County = Obama by 0.1%
San Antonio = Bexar County = Obama by 4.6%
Dallas = Dallas County = Obama by 15.4%
Austin = Travis County = Obama by 24%
Ft Worth = Tarrant County = Romney by 15.7%
El Paso = El Paso County = Obama by 32.6%
Arlington [See Ft Worth]
Corpus Christi = Nueces County = Romney by 3.2%
Plano = Collin County = Romney by 31.6%
Laredo = Webb County = Obama by 54%

I don't expect a lot of people to change their minds over this. I just wanted you to look & see that all 26 million of us aren't exactly the same. You can't keep making the same old stupid, tired, low-hanging-fruit jokes about how stupid & evil we are and then turn around and criticize conservatives for their lack of critical thinking.

Shouldn't surprise people that a lot of folks in Texas will be very happy with this news.

And that some other Texans, perhaps a lot more, will see it as a sign of the Apocalypse.

Bottom line: You got your Molly Ivins and Rick Perrys, so whether you're a lover or a hater, you're sure to find a friend in Texas.

Austin is great as long as you don't have to drive between the hours of 5am and 7 pm. Houston was fun for the short time I was there. The rest we can give back to Mexico.

Houston is pretty evenly divided politically. Harris County (in which Houston is located) went for Obama by the barest of margins in 2012.

Ceding the argument in one post, really?  Have you honestly ever been in or witnessed an exchange where "I'll kick your ass!" wasn't uttered once the speaker had no leg to stand on whatsoever?

Meanwhile, I am sitting in a coffee shop in Sugarland, TX listening to a couple of old guys drip venom over Obama sending "that lesbian" (aka tennis legend Billie Jean King) to the Olympics.

Texas: the land where, given a chance, they would gladly vote for a kmurderous ex-KGB thug like Putin over their own president. In a heartbeat.
