See, I don't know much about the theology.  Clearly the most common depiction shows what appear to be meatballs, which would imply a meat ragout, and not a marinara sauce at all.

But one would imagine that the FSM, in his starchy inclusiveness, would equally welcome vegetarians who prefer a nice hearty marinara instead, perhaps with some grated pecorino romano for the lacto-ovarians.

And would pesto be considered heretical in any way?

What IS the deal?
